Beautifully summed up : "a little slice of Spanish paradise". Totally agree. I love Cadiz. A tip for anyone staying over - stay in the old town and experience those beautiful buildings from the inside. You're then an easy walk to the best bars and restaurants. Enjoy!

Do it! We spent 3 days in Madrid, then went to Italy for a week and explored the Puglia region (rent a car) then we went back to Spain, rented a car and explored Seville, Cadiz, Ronda, Granada and then Toledo. It was the best trip ever!

Cadiz wasn't ¨taken by the Spanish¨ after the muslims. on the contrary, Muslim heritage in Spain is way more vast than those who came after. the Visigoth, the christian kingdoms you called ¨the spanish¨ owe EVERYTHING to the Caliphate: food, architecture, technology, culture overall.. It was the muslims who translated and preserved all the previous knowledge from Greeks and Persians during Medieval times, while the Visigoths were just praising the bible. the Visigoth were no more Spanish than the Muslims or Romans.
