As a Norman, it's very touching to see how Clive learned about our History. It would also be amazing to put his ideas on screen, I really hope it happens someday 🤞🏻Thank you for this video!
I loved Clive’s idea of doing a series during the time when Ragnar disappeared for 15 years and being able to bring back most if not all the cast of the original series.
What I loved about Vikings, is that the characters were never perfect heroes or villains, but humans who got it wrong as often as they got it right. All legends of course.
With all this talk of performance and how one puts themselves into who they play for the audience, I can't help but feel insanely happy at watching how Johan's natural jolliness and enthusiasm appear in this interview. All of a sudden those hearty "HA HA!" moments and chuckles on stage make a lot of sense :)
What a great man! Respect and admiration to Clive for being interested and meticulous about his profession and the projects he partakes in. I think this interview gives fans of the show insight that will add value to future rewatchings of the series. Clive also seems very humble and group oriented, which makes him even more likeable. Skål!
Nah, they'll ruin it. Back then Viking show years and today's world are not the same. A so many changed and im pretty sure it would be wokefest. Vikings valhalla is a good example.
@@darkside791 yeah, wokeings wokehalla sucked ass. but the original series was good. Woke garbage is on it's way out so it's time for a real viking show again.
Great podcast, loved hearing Clive’s view on the show. Always nice to hear when actors are passionate about the show they’re working on. I agree that vikings needs to keep producing spin offs in different time periods as there’s so much story to work on, especially if the members of the cast are up for it! Would also love to see more podcasts with the Viking’s cast.
Loved this !! To me, Clive, Travis, Gustav, Alex Høgh and Alexander Ludwig really nailed their Jobs on this show. ❤ loved it from beginning to end. Vikings valhalla is cool and all, but VIKINGS was epic!
Dearest thanks to Clive Standen for coming out to do this podcast and talk about his experiences on the show. What a blast to hear first-hand such amazing stories from a humble and well-spoken actor who truly cares for the show and his craft! Vikings will always remain a series very dear to my heart. Seeing stories spoken about the show is like reuniting with an old friend.
This was a nice conversation between two who share common interests. The TV Show was inspirational, or at least it was for me. I don't care about the historic accuracy, or how good certain chapters were, the show provides certain model, it tells a story like sagas did, and then it is up to people what to do with it. If you want a better understanding of the history, it motivates you to read books, and if you like the looks, it brings new conversations with your barber. I started growing my beard, and I since been to Roskilde, Oslo, Gudvangen, Borg... Some people get tattoos of characters, or an Ægishjálmur, whatever inspires them. As Johan said, there are Mexican Vikings, of course they are! Because Viking is a verb, is something that you do, is something that you become, no matter where you were born. And as for the show, please invite other guests, it would be super interesting to have Katheryn, Gustav, Georgia or Peter, along with Travis, of course. They all played good characters and for sure would have good stories to tell. Skal! for Johan and Grimfrost crew, thank you for your time and effort.
I've only watched a few episodes of Vikings but this interview was awesome. The interviewer asked some very interesting questions, and the interview is such an easy listen: so well-informed on both parts and it flows like a friendly and easy conversation. Clive comes across so well: he's well-spoken, down-to-earth, and passionate about his role and pays plenty of credit to his colleagues. Loved watching this, thank you!
Love it! Clive always well spoken. Inspired by the Vikings, I did a trip to Norway to meet modern day Vikings of Gudvangen and did a interview on my channel!
I love Clive Standen as an actor and appreciate that he has done a lot of research before going into this role, but I think his very good intentions were undermined by those above him who decided how the story would play out. To me, the show was ruined by Rollo's betrayal in France (and the very notable lack of historicity in general). The actual Rollo did become leader of Normandy without betraying anyone, and he did not introduce the feudal system, which was already there.
Rollo is by far the best character with the best character development in my opinion. I loved Rollo even when I hated him I loved him. Even when he was being a brute I loved him. Sometimes I think he was more bear than man😅 but I loved him
My 2 favorite shows of all time so far is vikings and sons of anarchy and my 2 favorite shows got there own podcasts this is awsome well i think soa got a podcast lol
I think the one thing that irritated me about the show was how they portrayed the wife of Rollo, I am nitpicky about it, and I know its a show but it just bugged and bugged me because Rollo's partner and historically speaking was Poppa of Bayeux, they say a woman named Gisela was the mother of his son but no historical record of her at all. The only one mentioned in historical record is Poppa, a daughter of a frankish count. I think its hilarious when you see your long dead ancestors portrayed on shows, Rollo was mine. Clive played him well and was definitely a loved and hated character at the same time but that is how good he is.
The character Rollo gets a lot of hate. For betraying Ragna. But history has it. Rollo founded the Normans. Who would eventually rule England for 500 years. And found dynasties in Italy and the Middle East.
Show as entertainment was ok, but as for historical accuracy it was as accurate as Marvel movies. Costume design was atrocious whoever was in charge of that should never work in tv series or films.
I agree with some parts but there actually is alot of accuracy like for instance Ragnars sons the one that limps actually did become a concorer like in show🎉 and the one son that ended up with indigenous people that is possibly true because they have recently found viking remains by an old indigenous village in documentary I watched
@@rileygarraway87 bro they crammed people from Scandinavia who lived 400 years apart , Rus invading Scandinavia? Rollo brother to Ragnar? And so much more
Clive has an inner producer not hidden that well in him, its pretty much out there now. And hey i support that idea of a spin-off that he talks about..!❤ I'd fugg with it...🫡
