As always, great explore! I really, really hope someone salvages those doors and trim. When we got married in 1990, we had a 1972 mobile home. It had the original harvest gold stove, sink and toilet. And the original lino in the kitchen. Got some of that wax stripper and that stuff was like new. The stove was gas and had a little hole for the pilot light. Scared the hell out me at first. Once I learned to use it I had to have a gas stove in our house we built. You gotta love someone that can make those wallpaper and carpet choices and stick with them for 40 years. Fun tour. Thanks for sharing. ❤️

The beautiful rounded wood trim is most likely 1930's "Art Deco" style. Some of the wallpaper is funky 60's, my grandmother had that same bright yellow flowers paper in her kitchen. If I were to guess, the pullchain part of the built-in in the kitchen is likely to be linked to a trap door for the heat register in the floor under where the built in's table would have been.

The wood paneling that runs about half way up the wall is called wainscotting.It is always at that height and panelled. If it was lower and not panelled but only had one horizontal band it would be called a chairs rail. Those kept backs of chairs from rubbing up against the wall and marring it.
@cherihill2003

@jerrysuebiddle6786

Traditional wainscoting is decorative wood panelling along the lower wall that protects the wall from scuffs. The height of traditional wainscoting is usually 36 to 42 inches. The chair rail goes at the top and baseboard is at the bottom.Aug 14, 2019

What you call base boards, we call skirting board in the UK - presumably because it skirts around the room; the trim around the doorways with the curved corners is called architrave. Fabulous house, so sad if it will be demolished.

I rented a Victorian similar to this style built in early 1900s. Had similar pocket doors that separated the dining room from living room. There’s always a third or small bedroom which creeped me out so I made my room in dining room of that house. This house is beautiful but kinda creepy I can feel whomever used to live there even though there’s no belongings. Thanks for showing.

Hi. You were wondering about the chain under the nook. On our farm we had a chain that was used for the old wood furnace. When adding wood Mom would call up to have us pull the chain. I would ask The one that burns the house down. Yes that was the chain that would open the draft to get the fire going better. Mom and Dad didn't want us playing with the chain so told us it could burn the house down if we played with it. Might have been the same idea.

This is a very beautiful red brick house, lovely door frames very are deco. Lovely bay window in the bedroom. Normally I don't like patterned carpet but the patterned carpet at the top of the stairs matches the wooden banister around the stairs, some bits in that carpet matches the mustard colour stair carpet. love the window seats in the kitchen so inviting. A cosy atmosphere in that house. Thanks for the video

Hi Riddim : That chain you were working under the bench , actually opened and closed the draft on a coal furnace in the cellar . Very common back in the day , the house was constructed . Looks like a 1976 reno to me , when harvest gold bathroom fixtures were popular ( totally out by 79 ) I know , I had a new house full of it , and had to convert to white ! Many YT explorers here in Ontario , exploring the same places . You do it best , and the only one I watch . Always enjoy your vids . Your enthusiastic voice sets you apart ! Best regards from John !

What a great find. Beautiful home. Actually livable, and fixable if a person had deep pockets. Got a chuckle out of the green shag carpeting.....the wallpaper made my eyes roll a little. And, it's a good thing the attic was boarded up to keep the "monsters" up there. Apparently the roof is compromised somewhere, causing the leak. Loved the woodwork. Kitchen was updated at some point. Could just envision the table in that breakfast nook, having coffee in the morning. Wouldn't want to be the one vacuuming all that carpet...big house. Thanks for sharing.

Had to laugh - much of the decor I recognize - rugs, kitchen floor, cabinets pretty much everything that I encountered as a child. Decor is circa late 1960s - 1972 (might be able to push it to 1974). The second main kitchen with the bench seat looks like early - mid 1960s furnishing (the stove, chairs, etc) The woodwork in the home (not the trashy panelling) but all the beautiful wood work (doors, window frames, baseboards, staircase, etc. is circa 1910 - 1920. That was when house was probably built.
