Exploring Abandoned Chicago Hospital With Security Patrolling

Here's a short video I shot last winter of Dom and I exploring this abandoned hospital that recently closed. There was security inside the building somewhere but luckily we didn't run into them. We needed to be quiet so I was only able to film so much but we were still able to make our way through most of the hospital. When we finally found the morgue the door was locked but luckily we were still able to get in and take a few photos.

Yea it closed a few months before covid hit then it reopened as a covid testing site.

Could you tell us more about why they would close a nearly new hospital and what they plan to do with it? This kinda waste really yanks my chain.

4:52 Siemens radiography and fluoroscopy x-ray system! Still in good condition. That special camera by the table is the fluoro image intensifier, used to produce live x-ray. Fluoroscopy is basically x-ray video commonly used for barium studies and other minimally invasive procedures

Thank you, me too! But I was happy to find the morgue and a few other rooms here. I believe now they use it for covid testing.

It closed in 2019 because it ran out of funding then it was recently bought this year and now its a Covid testing facility.

Terrible folly to leave all possessions. Guys, all this equipment costs a lot of money. Very suspicious looks like a clean floor. This hospital cannot be abandoned. It is either mothballed or reserved.

Theres actually not many possessions left behind here. All the records and medical supplies were removed. The hospital sat abandoned for over a year before it was bought and now in use as a covid testing center.

It was actually bought in January and has been a Covid test facility since March.

Great video guys! Looks like you were the first go explore. Don’t you ever get scared that there will be some psycho in there? I’ll put it this way, would you be more scared of security or a psycho? Lol I often wonder why these hospitals get abandoned? Are these private hospitals? Cheers! Take care and be safe!

Yea its been closed for almost 3 years now. They used it for a few months with Covid testing but now it just sits unused again.

Thanks for your feedback. This hospital closed because it ran out of funding in 2019. It sat inactive for a year before a company bought it. It A month or 2 after it was bought, Covid virus hit, and it became a testing and treatment center for Covid.
