In today's episode, I'm taking you inside to explore a historic mental hospital dating back over a century. The hospital, a major part of the town's history, was originally a tuberculosis treatment center from 1912 to 1960. In 1960, it transitioned into a mental facility for the mentally disabled but closed in 1995. In its nearly 90 years of operations, many people have died in the hospital, including several employees from natural casues or suicide. The hospital, now in ruins, is a testament to the past and has not been reopened.
The hospital was renowned for its innovative' Sun cure,' or 'heliotherapy,' a treatment method that harnessed the sun's rays to aid patients.
The site's future remains to be determined, with officials considering demolition or refurbishment. Only time will tell.

That glass work is amazing. Zoom into the center of the sky dome, sacred geometrical pattern. Very cool!

I love your videos! I love the commentary, your knowledge of the location, the photos of its former life. You really do make us feel like we're a part of it. I'm old, fat & unhealthy, so I live vicariously through you! LOL

Beautiful architectural building. They just don’t make them like they used to. Be careful out there. Maybe take a buddy next time. Winter time is a good time to explore. Thank you for the video.

Yessss J.N. Adams!!! This is about an hour drive from me. My grandpa actually stayed in here for a brief period of time when he was young. I've explored here a few times. It just has a really sad feel to it.

The dome! How gorgeous!! And you’re right about the light fixtures. We had those when I was in grade school. They were great. Not like the awful fluorescent lights. What a cool explore. In the basement, the apparatus that had the foot pedal was a bedpan washer. Stainless steel bedpans were the standard and needed to be sanitized. So flush and wash.

In *Laurelton Pennsylvania,* which is in *Western Pennsylvania,* I visited an asylum that's been abandoned sometime in the 90s called *Laurelton State village for feeble-minded women of childbearing age.* This place was run by all the people that were there, they literally grew their own food, there is a hospital there and a school there for the kids, cottages for them to live in, an auditorium. Behind the hospital, I believe when you look at an aerial view picture you can see that the trees grew in wrong and they are growing out to the side because that is where they used to bury everybody after they passed away. When you're on the ground you can see the lumps where the bodies are and then the trees trying to grow around it.

And I forgot to add that it was a very cool place to explore. It seems like these asylums that have been opened forever close in the 90s, every one of them seems like they closed in the 90s, which is my era.

They should have kept the building in better condition, as it could have been made into a nursing home, or low income housing. The area has beautiful scenery as well. Have a great day ❤️🙂⚘️.

If people just went there and just explored and not to any damage, they may have rebuilt it. It makes me really sad that people just disrespect places😢

The bathroom is "in contact" No it is intact. Video is great. Work on commentary. What makes these sort of videos interesting is knowledge of the building(s). And never say "I'm not goin in there y'all" Thats what would seperate you from the average person that has toured, filmed, and posted their videos of this place a hundred times. Take someone with you and really explore the nooks and crannies. This is video has been shot by a hundred people. Nothing new here. If you want attention do something nobody else has. Research the history. Inform the viewer. Then actually take the viewer with you afterward to have those beers you were talking about and recap the adventure. Then tell us about your next one. Sell it.

Just wish you didn’t talk so much during your videos. Seemed like you were nervous tho you said you weren’t. Just my opinion.
