Today I’m inspecting a medical imaging suite with an abandoned MRI scan machine and CT scan machine. It is shocking to see these amazing radiology devices in this condition. If you're wondering what an MRI and CT look like, join me as I explore this forgotten medical imaging center that lies at the heart of downtown.

Exactly why people cant afford medical help! Just imagine how much money that has been spent just to walk away from all the equipment.
@na195097
@na195097 3 месяца назад
The location likely filed bankruptcy and the equipment was tied up in legal issues. It may even have been written off and/or considered unusable/non resellable.

Where would find such things? Why abandoned? Sounds dubious. If helium gas is still there, is that not a fire hazard? What country

Pure mockery.. To think that humanity has come so far.. to have "everything" and choose to let it rust unused.. when there are people who wait for even 5 years for an MRI.. is beyond incomprehensible

The thing is, these machines weigh several tons and are basically impossible to transport. That is usually the reason they are left behind.

So tell me again why why do Hospitals and Clinics charge you almost an arm and a leg to get procedures done and they always have the also convenient excuse that it's because the equipment is so expensive when they have literally a lot of these equipments that are being forgotten just because and nobody has thought of recycling these things sometimes I kind of understand the frustration of patience that have the right to be mad at the fact that a lot of this is just it's too much for the pockets to sustain

Wait dude how come the camera didn't get yanked out because i know that mris are still active even if the helium cold head doesn't work
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer 2 месяца назад
You are absolutely correct. All MRI should always be considered active even when the coldhead is off. This particular magnet was decommissioned/quenched some time ago and 99% of the magnetic field was lost in the process, so the room was relatively safe to record with a camera at the time. If the magnet is on, I typically have to stand as far back as I can so the magnetic field does not affect the focus of the camera

@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer
@MRIPETCTSupportEngineer 3 месяца назад
It is scary to think about, but it does happen. Luckily MRIs have built-in safety features to prevent a quench, or rapid loss of magnetic field, in these types of situations, but the magnet can only sustain the low temperatures needed for superconductivity for a few days without the coldhead working, maybe 10 days max. There is also a mechanical emergency table release just in case the patient is inside. Thank you for your comment!
