Thank you so so much for your guidance and sharing your experiences of creating beautiful inspired art! You are a wonderful teacher. I am a long time hobby artist (almost 73!) and I truly enjoy learning the various ways and methods you use in your creative process.
Thank you Betty, for this reminder to still "play" with our materials. This will make for a happier experience when beginning a piece, to experiment once again and create marks in the background that inform the later layers. So much to experience in an art practice and you make it happen.
Have you tried making a pattern with hot glue on cardboard? As I was watching this video I thought maybe that would make a cool stamp. You've definitely inspired me!!
Lots of inspired ideas❤️ Thank you for sharing Betty🙏🏼 I’ve been saving any packaging that has interesting textures for my mixed media experiments and making stamps by cutting shapes out of craft foam and then sticking them onto cardboard from old boxes………having fun and recycling😊🎨
I love your videos, Betty! I like using the end of empty toilet paper rolls dipped in paint to put circles on my page, and I love scraping in wet paint with plastic forks and knives. It's fun to see how much conversation this video generated! Thanks for your generosity with your process. I am always inspired.
Thank you for sharing. I do use stencils from waxed paper or Mylar. Also have used foam sheets from the art store and used a ballpoint pen to incise a pattern like lines and then print from that. I will look for a fine tip applicator. I appreciate your videos ❤
I liked the random shapes out of wax paper. Have not use that one, but will try it now. I like to borrow the kids Legos. They make great little circles and marks, another favorite of mine is a hair pick from the dollar store, or a dollar store hairbrush make great marks. Thanks a lot for tickling my imagination again I’m inspired.
Thanks Betty. I love your videos. You are so generous. I create textured papers like your wall paper using glue to create the design. Let dry then use the way you did the wall paper. Thanks again.
I am saying how much I apply what you demonstrated to kids when I teach! I love your demos, as a teacher I like to include the elements of design and a bit of art history.
Spattering paint with a toothbrush, printing patterns with handmade fun foam stamps, dragging a feather through paint - just some other ideas. Thank you for you for your colourful videos.
Betty you’re an inspiration! And your beautiful painting ‘Winter Jewels’ gives me such joy each morning! This tutorial is great. Sometimes the simple things can be just the right touch. Adele S does these things too. Thankyou ❤️
Hi Mary! I'm so glad you're enjoying "Winter Jewels". That one is very special to me! Glad you liked this video. I agree...the simple things are so fun. And, Adele is fantastic. It was so fun having dinner with her when she was in the SF Bay Area last year.
What great ideas, I'll try them on my artwork. We have used wallpaper to print backgrounds for abstract still lifes, it gives great texture. Thanks Betty.
I used wax paper because I had it on hand. You can do the same with regular paper or construction paper. I like the it's kind of see-through so that I can see where I'm placing it. Thanks so much for watching!
Hi Deanne! I've had mine for well over 10 years. Here's a link. You can get them in craft/art stores or online: www.michaels.com/product/rec-10ml-metal-tip-btl-4pk-10656332?cm_mmc=PLASearch-_-google-_-MICH_Shopping_US_N_Papercraft_N_PMAX_BOPIS_N-_-&Kenshoo_ida=&kpid=go_cmp-18514199885_adg-_ad-__dev-c_ext-_prd-10656332&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw8diwBhAbEiwA7i_sJS1TJ_GPi5YuGYddxG6cGdu2M0a1fqH2dD9YSowSLw48WSHGgB0DFRoCbJAQAvD_BwE
Bubble wrap folie could works here, the top of the markets to make circles as well.I am a collage maker and would like to try with this kind of art - I dream about it😊Thank you for your lovely videos❤
I soooo enjoy your videos, Betty. Really inspiring! I am actually holding my first (paid) mixed media workshop next week and will have to add some waxed paper to the huge pool of materials/ideas! Thank you.❤
Thank you Betty. I just picked up a couple things. A placemat with cutout design, and a sink mat with circles and if flipped over you can put paint on and transfer lines.
I usually don't have an issue with the paint drying out. That's probably because I live in a climate that isn't very dry and I tend to only put out the amount I'll be using and I work fast. Here's a video I found on how to make a wet palette: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IJvyF3_1LUc.html I hope that helps!
Totally agree, Becky! We think we need all the fancy stuff at the store. We just need to look around and think outside the box. Thanks so much for watching!
Good question! I live in the US, so I don't know what it would be called elsewhere. I googled this: Waxed paper (also wax paper, waxpaper, or paraffin paper) is paper that has been made moisture-proof and grease-proof through the application of wax. Not sure if that is helpful. I also found this: Use wax paper to line dishes that aren't going in the oven. Wax paper's best use is lining countertops and tables before rolling out pie crusts or kneading bread, to prevent a mess. Wax paper can also be used to wrap food for cold storage or even line a pan for making something like fudge.
You use a brush in the first example in a video with ditching the brush in the title, lol. you could have easily performed the first one with your fingers. Also, it's Stampendous as in Stupendous. And here we are with brush use in the 4th example where you could have easily used your finger. I gotta unsub. I may or may not feel bad later for pointing out the obvious.
