That tornado alarm plus the abandoned city gives me post apocalyptic vibes. I could imagine a hoard of zombies wandering the town being the former residents
That is an air raid siren. When I lived in New Jersey a lot of the small towns would use them when the fire department had to get out on the road. After World War II they had all these air raids sirens left over and they didn't know what to do with them so they gave them to the fire departments. And they would use them to sign everything from a disaster to they are fixing to roll on a fire. And that way it would let people know to get off the roadways for a minute so they could get through and get to the fire as quickly as possible. Actually pretty damn good idea and my town still uses them!
It sucks ppl trash these places. Please explore with respect. Its quite sad that these houses are all abandoned with things inside still & all the memories.
Ya know!! And Phylis Wells got employee of the month or year or whatever at least 3 times, but the bedroom was untouched like the guys said, maybe she passed away. I thinking something fishy going on.
No kidding! I just found your channel recently and quickly became interested in the content. Just this morning I wondered how many similar buyout situations have happened near me in Troy/Albany NY and then this video shows up, perfect timing I’d never heard about this. How recently this was filmed? Also the siren you heard is used by volunteer fire departments to alert members of an incoming call, pretty common for non-paid fire services. And you’re correct the air raid sirens used are the same type used for tornados or even old repurposed missile/nuclear warning sirens during war times
I did some digging when I was there. It was a family of 7. I haven't found why they left everything, but I did find 2 family member that still live in the area. I would contact them but they obviously left because they wanted to forget.
I remember those from when I used to live in New Jersey. When I moved back to Indiana, there are no sirens. The alarm in New Jersey didn't sound like that one. I used to call it the moose because it sounded like a moose to me.
It's not odd that people leave all their stuff, people get paid 5 × what their property is worth from COSTCO and just leave everything because they can buy more.
Thats insane. In 2011 Google Maps this place was totally up and running. Lawn chairs, tables and inflatable pools outside. The whole atmosphere is just on the extremes of the spectrum. That "hoarder" family? An emotionally troubled daughter thinking about death, and a bro living in his parents basement with the cupboard full of beer and a table covered in tobacco. Insert shady multi-billion dollar corporation using stealth developmental tactics. 1 certified valued employee of said company to infiltrate relationships, and then just sweep the rug out from under everyone. Literally the storyline to a show or video game.
Tornados actually occur in all 50 states. When properties are bought up like this, they are paid so much, that they just leave it all behind and start fresh.
Tornadoes do NOT occur in upstate New York lol Source: I’ve lived her my whole life and have gone to Crossgates mall probably over 500 times at this point. Seen lots of movies at that regal theater. Johnny Rockets is across from the theater
@@dylanhealy8126 Policygenius has a link with data showing on average the entire state of NY has roughly 9 tornados a year. I live a state that is high on the list for the number tordanos per year, however, the county I live in does not see that many.
Pyramid is a real estate company based out of Syracuse focuses on Massachusetts and New York, they also own 13 malls INCLUDING cross gates. Love upstate
So 36:46, rewind a bit and pause. Do you think it's strange that Phyllis J Wells is getting rewards from the pyramid management company that tried to get everyone off that land they bought ? So she was living there and was paid good I bet to try and get everyone out? I mean that's dirty!!!! What do yall think? Also those sirens are standard firehouse sirens around ny.
Man you guys are crazy for going inside these places, i don't have the balls & getting too old for it so i'm glad i can watch you guys explore these joints for me. Salute my G stay safe.
I feel bad for the person living along with all the abandoned houses since it got bought out. Also the vulture may have been out because of the dead animals or if it found a body (that would explain the sirens)
Great job with this! I laughed at you guys climbing up on that rotten deck--120 pound Enrique- holds him ok, so then KG-180 pounds of pure muscle and it almost collapses.🙂 Just cause it holds the skinny guy--don't trust it!!
I've watched the show, too most people it doesn't make sense to store useless junk, but a hoarder...it dies, a traumatic thing happened in their life where hoarding is a relief,a feel good a euphoria of necessary 😢 that's why they need professional help and organization. Comfort in a healthy environment
In the beginning you said that the developers name was Pyramid. Then at around 36, 37 minutes in as you were looking at some framed items you said that one of the individuals that once lived in one of the homes worked for a company named Pyramid...🧐🤔🔼
I live in Albany New York and have to have been to Crossgates Mall over 500 times (at least) I remember when they announced the plan to develop the area into a Costco or something like that and it was a big controversy for them to buy all the houses and properties. I completely forgot about all of this until you posted this. My brother and I started watching urban exploration videos a couple months ago, and to find out we have a place so close to home, we’re definitely going to check this place out.
I got a good chuckle out of your commentary guys. Pretty cool find but so sad at the same time. Thanks for bringing this to us here on RU-vid. I would otherwise never ever see anything like this. Grab masks for your trips. You don't want to get sick from your explorations. 😢 have fun & be safe ❤ 🙏
So they destroyed a community and all of those beautiful houses for a company that didn't even move there. If the company was smart they would have left the people alone built what they needed and sold their products to the people living there. They had enough space without destroying people's homes. That's just greed at its finest. Hurting people just to hurt people. The company couldn't even finish building so there was no profit to anything they did.
It was under my understanding that some families that rented a property were evicted and during an eviction process (which once they come to evict you you have like 10 minute to get your stuff out or leave it) hence why you see a ton of items in the one house while others sold properties that the homeowner lived in and had ample time to leave.
Whoa! Have delivered to the BJ'S in that mall dozens of times when I lived out in Massachusetts for almost 10 years! Did refrigerated freight to them from Rocky Hill, Ct. 😊
These massive corporations shouldn't be able to buy residential land like that. Americans are distracted to what is being done right under their noses allowing their elected "representatives" to back it all and probably get a cut. Americans not remaining united against the gov, no matter what side was the biggest mistake, along with not holding elected officials accountable. You deserve what you tolerate!
The one house with the "front" door that was open, but the next door was locked, what you thought was the "front" door was just an enclosed front porch.
There's one by where I live and it turn into an ANF Gyros & Grill on West Colonial Drive when they built the new one literally 5 minutes from the old one. They also did the same to an old Burger King on Silver Star Road.
12:06 that girls diary about dead bodies and suicide. Look at the date 5/21 and what date was this uploaded? 😳 You likely encountered Hanna's spirit...
I’ve probably just played too much Silent Hill but I would freak tf out if I heard an alarm like that while urbexing. Tbh knowing it’s a tornado alarm really wouldn’t make me feel any better 😅
Hi love watching these.. So the awards for Phyllis were from Pyramid, the same Pyramid that sold everyone out and kicked everyone out of their homes... Did the other residents know? woah
Those funny grasses that explode, I call them boing boings. It's how they spread their seeds. Kinda cool that plants can have potential energy stored like that. You only heard a local fire department roof alarm in the beginning. I'm sure you knew that anyway. It's a traditional way of summoning volunteer firefighters to the firehouse for an emergency. Totally not necessary anymore and just noise pollution I'm my opinion. Being a volunteer for 25 years now. The smartphone gives you a map, detailed information, and status of a call. Why do we have to listen to that siren? NOSTALGIA!
I remember this as I under stood it some of these houses People were offered far more then the homes were worth and they had plenty to start over and then some they just walked left everything behind , there were a few hold outs of Older residence and they decided to wait them out hoping once the people died the home would get sold by the families or they would go up for back taxes since the whole thing had already takes far longer then they hoped .
now its doubtful any thing will ever be built there because environmental studies say that it would hurt the population of the Blue Butterfly which is endangered, some of these homes have been abandoned Since the mid 90s the hay day of Excess the Economy was was smoking so to speak the biggest issue with the Costco Project and the Expansion of the mall the Pine bush and the larner Blue Butterfly people were already upstate over Crossgate and the strip mall being built as it was .
some of the dangers of entering these older home there is not just molds in the air but these house still had asbestos Tiles that are broken and walking on them can be a health risk also they were Still using lead paint so the finer crumbling paint is in the air and the dust you inhale is peppered with lead , Radon Gases were a huge issue to in homes with basements . Most older homes and new one all have vents and filters to filter this radioactive gas today ..
there is a sad part of all these the home here with notices your showing were people were still paid and holding out they have no electric meters these hose lost there occupancy permits and they removed services while people still were there no loght water swer nothing ..
I'm gonna take a swingin wild ass guess and say those memos/notices on the doors are to get squatters out.. There's no way the grass grows that quick.. lol
And New York does get tornados..Idt we have alarm systems like that though cause they arent crazy like the mid west and they're rare. Sounds more like a fire house siren, the one by me sounds like that when they go out on a call.
Looks like it's just all growed up, doesn't look anybobdy has been around there in many years. Hopefully, someone or somebody will come along and build a new housing addition there, and once again it'll look nice again. 😢
Not sure if that area sounds a fire wistel still the area I live in sounds the alarm at 12 and for when the fire hall runs calls several areas surrounding us still does as well
Hey you should go to the abandoned Girl Scout Iroquois county Illinois Just started watching your videos about a month ago Keep up the great work 👍👍 I need places to film lol 😅😂
The people who left everything were probably renters and the houses were sold out from under them and they couldn't afford to take everything. Also if you stay past the eviction deadline the police can make you leave with little notice.
p[art of the plan for this project it self may have to change it included special use for a 18 Pump gas station it seems this will never make it money back as Gas power cars are coming to an end changing plans to make it Charging station would require then to resubmit all there plans for permits
Bro I cannot with the commentary on the urban explorers “Whoa they left office furniture. That’s so crazy! I wonder if it was an office . What do you think”? “Yeah like you said an office” Nooooo shit!!!
