Buildings like this aren’t made anymore and we don’t take care of the ones that remain. It’s almost criminal to see a building this beautiful slowly rotting away. I hope someone is able to save it, inside and out. Thank you so much for documenting this.

To bad the rain will destroy all that beautiful woodwork on the stairs. It is a product of the beg. of the industrial revolution, when machines were first available to make different shapes and textures in wood and other materials. So, builders went nuts w/it. I own a Queen Anne Victorian home from the same era and w/the same type intricate woodwork.

7:07 - if you search for "victorian tiled floor" you will get an idea of what the tiled floors looked like when they were new - the reds, light blues and yellows would have been very strong. I didn't know such floors were used in the USA as well. In UK homes of the Victorian era such floors were very common as they were hard wearing. Another great video - amazing staircases!

I think they should re-purpose it while keeping it's history. Like that building probably has a ton of mold, and a ton of water damage. Like I think they should salvage as much unique and historical things as possible, like the gothic staircases, light fixtures, paintings, etc., but renovate the building thoroughly, repaint it, clean it, update the electrical, and update it to modern safety standards, while keeping the as much gothic historic and unique stuff as possible.

I went to this School for 7th and 8th grades in 1981 & 1982. I have been looking for a video like this for years. It's heartbreaking because I have so many great memories there. By the time I went there enrollment was fairly low. All classes were on the first floor. Grades 5-8 had a separate adjoining building which I believe has already been torn down. I believe the town uses the gym which is huge. I wish you guys could have gotten into the older gym with the elevated track. It is to the far left of the building as you look at it. Also when I was there we only had access to a few classrooms in the basement. The area that looked like dorms etc. was locked off. There were also only a handful of boarders at that time so I never really had a reason to go above the Chapel but seeing the state it is in is a total disgrace.

Unlike most of the others who do what you do, you do your due diligence and are somewhat knowledgeable on these places, their architecture, their significance to their communities. For that you are to be commended, for your work not only entertains, it enlightens and educates - and that, of course, promotes others to develop respect and appreciation in these places as well.
