Armação de Pêra is one of those places you see in your mind when you think of the Algarve. Beautiful beaches nestled between rocks, old fishing spots and plenty of little tascas to enjoy the local food and ice cream. We explored this lovely little town this week and all its small backstreets to show you a more peaceful side to algarve living.

Haha you guys are great in exploring Armacao de Pera. I’m from Holland but this little town is my second home since I was 14 years old. I am learning things from this video that I’ve never known :) Did you do the cave tour by boat? It’s amazing so if you didn’t you are going to have to come back! Welcome any time. I’m there every year in August and you are right, if you don’t have children or are attached to a specific month, don’t go there in August if you like peace 😜 Also go to Calixto’s beach bar, and try the rice in pineapple ❤

At 11,08 min mark that squeezed street is the most tight Street i know. It is called Rua dos Abraços = Hugs Street 🤗 We can not tottally open our arms because it is really narrow. 😊 Loved your vídeo 🌸💦☀️

Let me give you a help at 2 minutes and 55 seconds 😊 the white and blue building was the Casino, not the old market. The old market is located on the old part of the town. That casino was inaugurated in 22nd Jully 1958. Its clientes used to be "cream of the cream" at that time. National artists came and sing there 😊 its arquitecture even remebers Frank Loyd Right's design. It is a beautifull building.

The towns name came from a type of fishing structure that fishermen from Pera used to catch fish. We could transalate the word "Armação" roughly to "frame". So if we were to transalate or roughly to english this town would be called Pera's Frame 😊

That’s what Carlos thought aswell but after further research we found a few articles saying otherwise. Tbh I think there may be a few possibilities as the town has been about since the Roman times

@@TheSunnySaudadeProject yes, possibilly. And there are also some possible conection regarding the word PERA and a big rock (in latin = Petra). But now they teach us to right it Pêra = pear (the fruit).

I have been to Armação De Pêra, was out of season on an evening visit and ended up having a great (all you can eat) meal in a quirky fish restaurant. You normally have to book (even out of season) basically it was tiny but had bench seats/tables, I wish I could remember the name, was on a side street off the beach at the (Albufeira) end of the promenade where you were. Are going to the Fatacil fair near Lagoa on now through to August 28th (check google or Tourist board office)
