Love Hilary Pecis so much! Terrific video as always. Thank you for these exhibition tours, much appreciated. All my best from Belgium, Julien (CAI director)
Your videos are informative and bring out insights from the European perspective as well. I'd be in peace if I can live to see the day the two channels having collaborations
Thank you, Mary. I really enjoyed Sojourner Truth Parsons and Kara Joslyn's work the most. But, as far as galleries go, I love how The Hole transforms the entire gallery to compliment the artist's work. That's really special.
Thank you again. I appreciate you were the only one masked-up. I agree. I too/two do not go into a ventilated area w/o a mask. I'm intrigued by how work is hung/the space the work occupies and what happens next. Who buys what and for how much and why they buy. That comment about Hillary's recent sale of $1.2MM for instance. I love her work but to my eye it is very derivative. You mentioned Hockey and Jonas Wood. I am inspired by conceptually and visually compelling work. The green walls (oh that color green makes my skin crawl) and sign painterly scrolling is a distraction and how did that color and scrolling help the paintings sell? Very interesting the guiding words for Carron's work were, "hopelessly feeling alive" since 2009. His 3-D work was interesting, especially the squashed instruments. AND yes the virus is showing its self in paint. I look forward to your walks to the different galleries too. Especially seeing the white foot above the Chinese pharmacy at 2:15. FUN. I love NYC. Been a long time since I was in China Town. Still looks the same. Thanks again.
Hillary Pecis is an interesting artist. As you say, there is a hint of Matisse with the flat colours. Covid isolation affected so many people and for many it was a nightmare to not have contact with others. Society had broken down and it was an effort to wait until the lockdowns ended.
Thank you for this visit in China Town. When i Wake up, i Always Hope you have posted a vidéo not only to see exhibitions but to see américain streets I'll never see. When do you Come to Europa to film galleries hère. I'm french but i live in Toscana sometimes...near Florence. Have a good day. Thank you.
Sometimes I cannot visit the galleries personally. You fill that space, and the sense of missing fades away with your voice, you are the best guide to the ever shifting land of Art. Thank you.
The abstract paintings with collage and textures are sumptuous designs that would be welcome in any home or business. One is flabergasted by the infinite capacities of human imagination. Painting will never die as an art form.
Sojourner Truth Parsons leans on Matisse's later style of work a lot. I like it a lot though. The rest of the exhibits struck all the right chords with me personally, fantastic works!!
