Join us as we take you into Bangkok's UNDERWORLD, a place tourists never go and don't know about. This is a world of black magic where you'll find some shady and interesting characters.
We're searching for a famous Thai amulet which involves using a fetus of a baby to make.
To film here we had to get special permission from the head of the market. We venture into the Chatuchak area of Bangkok, not far from the famous Chatuchak market (JJ market) to show you a world that tourists don't see when they visit Bangkok.
Thai amulets are very famous throughout Asia. Some can be sold for millions of Baht. Each amulet has it's own special purpose with some believing that they can even stop bullets!

Another fascinating video man. I've watched a bunch of these now today and they never get boring. So refreshing to get a real take on proper Thai life and culture. Loving Nune's Dub accent and expressions 'like' 😂. Saw some of this stuff for sane on the street in Yaowarat near the flower market one time but had no Thai to ask the right questions. Can you see if you can dig out anything on 'alternative arty community stuff' at all. Like in Yangon, Myanmar there is a very cool group of punk musicians who used to help feed the street dwellers one day each month and they had they'd own subculture scene going on. Ar aghiadh leat a chara 😀

What a interesting vlog Pete and Nune . My wife’s uncle explained to me about the meaning of them and how some are more valuable than others. Excellent, very informative vlog Pete. You mentioned the famous amulet with relation to an unborn childs foetus, well, as im sure you may know, a similar superstition exists in Irish folklore, when fishermen, especially, would take with them the Caul of a new born baby, an amniotic sac or membrane which detaches itself from the childs head, to sea to ward off death & destruction!!!!! Theres a referance to this in the Christy Moore song, ''16 Fishermen Raving'!!!! I know Chatuchak market very well from back in the day. Very interesting market indeed!!!!' Keep up the great work, stay safe both, god bless, chok dee, slainte mo currah!!!

Nah... They don't kill your kids.. They will turn naughty and disturb you. Guman thong is like your child. Treat them with respect and talk to them like children. Give them toys and offerings like sweets, red soft drinks. Kids food. They will then bond with you and bring you lots of wealth and protection for your family.

Kuman Tongs will not kill your kids or deliberately hurt anyone. Please do not post unverified information without having the proper knowledge that will mislead others. People keep Kuman Tongs as a form of gaining merits for oneself as well as giving merits to the spirit child as well. The spirit child help you (the owner) and you as the owner do good deeds and help those people in need to return the merits to Kuman tong the child spirit so that they can be reincarnated to have a better life in the future.

Let me explain my friend, as I'm one of the Thai guy who like to collect those amulet. Especially In Thailand 99.99% of the collector is a man because there are too many strict rules for woman about amulet since the ancient time. 1. Those kids sculpture called "Ku marn thong" and those sculptures are not a child. They just do the ceremony that they believed that passed from generation to generation and what they did just do the ceremony to pass the spirit of the dead child to the sculpture. What they must do(from the ancient time) is find the dead child that still not born from the dead woman and grill before the the sunrise and then do the ceremony but that's what the ancient people believe and did. Nowadays(since before our generation) they couldn't do that anymore because that's not a normal thing you could do anymore if you don't want to go to jail, so how they make Kuman Thong is up to the maker and the most famous ceremony they brought the soil from 7 most haunted tombs and mix together and Rak sorn wood or wood from Mayom tree then do the ceremony they believed to send the spiritual of the kid from the tomb to stay in those doll. The most famous Kuman Thong are from "LP Tae" and there are limited edition and that's what the collector want to own, the price now is over a million baht(us$30,000++) I mean much more than a million because this price is the offered price from the collector in the market. So all of these things in this video are copied. The price of the copied one just about 30-50 baht($1-$2 usd) or less and when they told you those are from the temple is just the same story from them and they never change the story, if you want to see the real amulet you probably go to Pantip or even in the real amulet auctions. And you'll find it really funny because it's not even close to the real one, those fake amulet too. 2. Rama 5 is not the one who made the people believe in amulet, people beleive and wear amulet since the ancient time, Rama 5 just gave the limited edition one to those soldier. Just like the amulet called "pra ruang rang pune" that you pointed in the video, they're not from "Sukothai" they're from "Srisatchanalai" "Sawankalok" and it's more than 800 years old. And for sure that is a fake one and the seller doesn't even know about this amulet too, the real one worth more than 200,000-1,000,000 baht(usd$10,000-$30,000++)it's the same as the second one but I think I wrote too long Hahaha. But one thing I have to say is if you want to see the real amulet just go to the real market for the real amulet, you'll never find a real amulet in Chatochak, those things are just like a souvenir and most of them worth just $0.10-$0.20 each from the wholeseller and if you buy a lot it's probably cheaper. It's just like if you want to see the real pieces of diamond necklace of the queen of england you cannot find them in the flea market.
@ThairishTimes
@ThairishTimes 2 года назад
Cool thanks for the info, we all knew they were fake amulets. I said in the video that they stopped me filming at the amulet market in the old town so we just did it there. We’re no experts in Ku Man Thong but I thought it would be cool to tell their story. I got my research from coconuts.tv website and although it differs slightly from what you say it’s still along the same lines. As I said in the video it’s very difficult to get accurate information about these as numerous sources give different information. It’s very interesting to know the pricing of these real amulets and I appreciate your long and informative comment. I love filming and knowing more about Thai history and culture. If you have any ideas about future videos I love to hear them. Here’s my email thairishtimes@gmail.com

@@ThairishTimes Thank you very much for your response. I don't know much about good contents my friend Lol. Probably you could do about muaythai as a lot of people around the world came to train here. I forgot to tell you another thing about "Luk Thep", Luk Thep has nothing to do about spiritual or white magic or black magic and just only a small group of people in Bangkok bought it and play it. Luk Thep in Thai language means Son of god. But the slang for Bangkok people means the son of the rich family who got everything from their parents if they ask for it, like if they want ferrari they'll get Ferrari if they want Lambo they'll get Lambo and if they have a problem with anyone here they would win and their parents never thought that their child did anything wrong, so most people thought that's not looks like a human baby so they called them something else and they called them Luk Thep that's mean "not human baby" For "Luk Thep doll" they just called it because a trend in bangkok about 10 years ago, it's really popular in some rich girl and many Ladyboy and Lesbian group, when they have a lot of money and they do not have a real kids then they buy "Luk Thep doll" and they just pretend that those dolls are their real kid and many of them pay a lot of money for these doll, the real Luk thep doll worth atleast 100,000++ baht (us$3000++) up to how beautiful of them, and they just pretend that those dolls are their real child, they just bought anything they want for their doll like Gucci bag, Valentino bag, Louis Vuitton, Burberry, Versace costume, Rolex watch, Patek philippe watch, Tag watch etc. and they have to feed the doll every meals too, they feed what they want to feed even the doll cannot eat like A5 meat, Truffle, Cavier and even meals from Michelin star chef. Many people thought they are stupid and crazy so this trend is not last long. And like I said Luk Thep is only just a trend like Barbie doll and then they change to Blind doll and then Luk Thep. But Luk Thep for me is the most weird because they pretend that the doll has a life. I don't know about another province trend because I live in Bangkok but I think they do not have this trend because even in Bangkok there are just only a small group. And after that trend many people who sell doll alway say their dolls are Luk Thep and sell it for us$10, and I have to say those doll are not Luk Thep.Lol Fun fact: Even some Thai people that do not know about this trend in Bangkok like many of my friends from another province thought all the doll like this called Luk Thep. Lol

I'm a Muslim and black magic is strictly forbidden in Islam. Anyone who does black magic leaves the fold of Islam. People who do these type of stuff are immoral and disgusting!

This Vietnamese girl went to Thailand and got like 6 kumantong spirit doll and brought them back to vn, she talks to them like they’re real baby she buys them soft drinks milk snacks. But one day she just jump down from floor 20 and pass away. I don’t know but bringing baby spirit into your home is not safe and she got like 6 7 doll. You never know they might want to have their human mama all to theirs so the made her jump down so she can be with them. They probably didn’t want their mama to have a husband and have her own kids.

I hope you don't believe some of that stuff on what you were told. Your girlfriend should know what is true or not. I really did not like or I also do not believe. I will give you a like, but I really did not like this video, to much BS on what was said. This is only my own opinion.

It’s not about if I or you believe it. These are the beliefs and customs of certain people in Thailand. I get that westerners may find it strange and that’s why I made the vlog, to show a little bit of culture.

I am married to a Thai, and have many relations in Thailand. At one time I was stationed in Thailand, with the military. And have visited Thailand a few times. I think I know quite a bit about Thailand, and its culture. I will close for now, and you guys take care.
