Your welcome. Please give the video a like. I'm working on a winter one, but in order to finish that, there needs to be...winter. Not sure how it will come out, a bunch of snow. Maybe it will be a how to not be a total idiot when going to big bear in the snow.

I have been been traveling the area for years, these are just some highlights of offbeat stuff. There are of course many many more touristy things to see and do up there, the Big Bear visitor center is a good place to start!

Thanks for the ideas. We are often in Big Bear and usually ski or mountain bike. I have several mountain bike videos if people want to see what is available.

Thank you. Yes, it's charming. An old west gold rush town, that made it to modern days. I'm gonna work on a winter video up there, hopefully in the snow.

I recall years ago 30+ that gold mine on the side of the hill near the city dumped, there were 6 or so old houses that the miners that lived in also a small cemetery with maybe 20 graves in it. I also recall some one dug up some of the graves and vandalize some of the houses.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 2 года назад
The houses your referring to were most likely in adjacent "Holcomb Valley", one of which is in the video were I'm talking to the woman. There were a couple more, that are more or less gone, one was rumored to be a saloon, the last remnants of which disappeared ~25 years ago, same with the other one, which was probably just lost to termites & time. Nothing lasts forever. Thanks for watching, please give the video a like and subscribe for more offbeat stuff!

Don't see many people biking around the village or town in your video, are there bike lanes? I know there's the Alpine path for biking, but I just don't want to drive around when I could bike around town.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
There are no bike paths in the village, but there are in various places around Big Bear. Also, many roads are wide so bikes can be safe. There are some places however where there isn't a lot of room for cars and bikes. If your planning a ride, contact the Big Bear Discovery Center, or go on google street view and check out where you want to go.

Most of the town is pretty mellow so getting around on a bike isn't too difficult. The hard part is things are a bit spread out. I took my 12 year old on some of the cross country trails this past weekend and it was pretty easy to pedal into and through the Village. Many cabins are easy to pedal to from the top of Snow Summit too.

There's a short bike path in the village, but it's kinda hidden. Look between Pine Knott Rd and Knickerbocker Rd. It runs north and south and ends at the Big Bear Queen Lake Tour.

Where is the ghost town? I visited the dam keepers house and been to Holcomb Valley, which is so beautiful. Ghost town location?
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
Bellevue is the "Ghost Town" located in Holcomb valley. There is only one intact structure left, as well as a tree they used to hang people from, and some graves in the area. There used to be more as recently as a couple decades ago, you could also see the remains of what I believe was the saloon, and something else, but it's all gone, as time and termites have returned most of it to the earth. The intact structure I believe is/was maintained by the boy scouts.

Did you camp outside?
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
You can camp in many different developed camping areas in the forest. If your new or planning a trip, contact the "Big Bear Discovery Center" for more information. There are also plenty of hotels and cabins for rent up there.

What road is that on 9:05
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 3 года назад
It should be 2N09, Polique Canyon Rd - if memory serves. There is one other way in, which is east of there, and I don't think I was on that east road.

7:31 animal abuse :( he runs those poor horses into the ground, see it daily.
@SurrealAdventure
@SurrealAdventure 4 года назад
I'm not a horse expert, but my family did own a ranch. These appear to be draft horses (work horses) of some variety. The draft horse is much larger, and heavier, they were bred for much harder work than this, I.E. pulling plows and towing heavy loads (think clydesdales) Pulling a carriage around the village probably isn't even enough exercise for them. If anything I would worry that they are not working hard enough to stay in shape.

OMG...😱🤓😬😡 That is one of the most beautiful views of Big Bear Village... Can some mature one please calm this possibly abused child!!! Abuse is when people like you pollute social media this way!!!!!!! Get a life man. Especially if you are a competitor or someone who likes to see this poor family that is doing such a great job in keeping our tradition and history alive, go down so open up space for your dirty business or whatever fallacious agenda you have in your rotten mind... Sorry, but I couldn't remain indifferent or silent to this extend of Stupidity. If you are seriously local and care about anything in your pathetic life, PLEASE go and register yourself as a valuable article in that Stupidiotic shop! 8:45 Peace otherwise!
