Is this the solution to the housing crisis in San Francisco? We take you to Sausalito, CA to explore what could be the best town in the bay area. We start at the northern part of the city before making our way south to the Army Core of Engineers Bay Model. We then walk down Richardson Bay to downtown Sausalito to grab pizza with a view.

You guys need to head back to Sausalito in September, they offer a one day tour of many of the homes and it's quite incredible ( go in the morning), the tour was pretty reasonable and a lot of fun, you'll meet kind and interesting people and the homes run an incredible gamut of sizes, styles, ages and $$$, go

I just watched a video (this is 2024) it’s saying they went from 400 house boats to 40 house boats within 2 years.

Beautiful ! I’m surprised you haven’t been there before since you’ve been in San Francisco for awhile now . I stayed in a house on the hill where you were and looking across the bay was freaky the water looked like it was so close because all you could see was water and nothing obstructing the view. I had to get down on my knees to look out because it was so weird at first . I did not know those flaring homes were there I’d never be comfortable with a basement in water 😮yeks! Those house boats could really get messed up if a tsunami funneled in . I’ve almost drowned twice once in a 20 foot wave in southern Cali and once in the Grand Canyon another flash flood . I like being on the ground . Thanks for another great video . Love you guys

Very nice video...👍 I was wondering where the sewer goes in the Sausalito floating house ?

The houseboats have holding tanks with sump pumps that are connected to a sewer hose that runs underneath the dock. The end-stop is a line that goes to the front of the dock that sends the sewage to the main sewer treatment system that every other home on land uses.

There is a daily Smell at low tide! And then there is a little animal that makes a loud noise seasonally at these floating homes. However I will take that noise and smell over SF city Smell and noise anyday!

All the floating homes have a holding tank for sewage and all other water that goes down the drain. There is a pump in the tank with a float switch and when the level reaches a certain level the pump turns on and it pumps the sewage into a sewer line. It does not go into the Bay!

Those houses are not even close to affordable. They might be cheaper than the 5 mil homes on the hills, but youre still spending a million or very close to for one of those floating homes. And no, its not a solution to the housing crisis because the CA Coastal Commission has vehemently opposed new floating homes for 40 years!
