There are two “renowned “ foreign guys who used to roam China on their bikes and they would find the dirtiest places in small villages to film, and they would ridicule those ethnic minorities who wore their traditional wardrobes. That’s the way they introduced China to the world. You are a real angel and your videos are filled with joy and appreciation. I see laughter, greetings as well as sometimes awkward conversations with no sugar coating and certainly no condescending gestures. Hope all RU-vidrs can be just like you
@@TennisGvy He is talking about the two stupid guys, one American and one White South African guy. They moved to America after China kicked them out. I also stopped watching them after they showed videos that I considered morally corrupted and evil. I think those two are immoral. We don't mention their names here.
@@TennisGvy Yes, I've watched 老雷. He lives in Shanghai. Funny and entertaining videos. The other two guys get involved with geopolitics and very racist.
China doesn't need any of these "two" types of foreign visitors. They should stay home and continue to be self-assured of their "superiority." Katherine - good job! From SG
These videos are really refreshing. As opposed to the plethora of "look how everyone is blown away, aghast, shocked at my perfectly fluent Chinese etc"
🇺🇸 your bike tour is awesome. Young people SMILING is priceless. You made me smile. Your commentary is priceless. Your sensitivity to all living things makes my soul give hope to future generations. Thank you. 😊
Catherine, you are a strong girl. Biking around Guandong province . That is a great idea. I am from Brazil and I have been in China for four times, In Guangzhou, Foshan , Macau and Hong Kong. I hope come back to China soon.
You are my Chinese language Idol. I hope with several years of practice with my adopted Chinese family I will become as fluent as you. So much respect!
My mother tongue is Cantonese and after seeing your videos and others, I start to speculate Chinese Northerners are more friendly than the Chinese Southerners, exactly the opposite to Americans. Your videos are always informative, interesting, and even historical in a sense. Most importantly, you are ALWAYS super-friendly towards the locals, no matter whether they are the elderly, the kids and even the teens. You are the ambassador to the world. Thank YOU once again for another amazing video!
The countryside is comfortably the same in the region. What I find remarkable is the absence of garbage on the roads or touristy spots. Wonderful ... Cheers...
People in the cars behind you: What is that crazy foreign woman on a bike doing standing in the middle of the road? Well, helping a little froggy cross the road. You seem to reside within a comfortable balance of your carnivorous habits and a fascination with nature. Loving your videos; laughing to your comments.
What a beautiful coastal region. I guess out of lack of knowledge and a bit of ignorance we didn't know places like this existed in China. Thanks for another great video I enjoyed it very much!
@@IwasUnknownUser Why are you even watching this video if you are not interested? And why isn't unnecessary? Widen your mind and knowledge you might feel better about yourself.
@@abee4920 FKOFF I am Chinese, and this is a public channel. it's unnecessary to let ignorant and arrogant ppl to realize how they really are, and why should others to speak for Chinese or prove China should be like? this behavior itself is already a kind of racist mentality in your head and mind. this is my country and we don't need others to make judgement.
400km on a little bike. The only companion? Her little trusty bike. Little trusty bike has brought his/her trusty rider to the ends of the world. Please make sure little trusty bike gets all the love you can give. For little trusty bike, life is an adventure it has never thought of having while sitting in that shop waiting for whomever takes posession of it.
Thank you mate for all your efforts and bringing us this beautiful mini series. Learned a lot about that part of China. Nice to know that people are really friendly towards and accepting of you. Be happy and keep smiling! Remember that home is where your heart lies. Hasta luego.
Katherine is always so awesome yet so down to earth. So many thanks for bringing us such beautiful, so wonderful sceneries of China, and thank you for the love of China. We armchair tourists can really enjoy them because of your hands on first hand knowledge and experience. Lovely! Happy New Year!💖💖💖😄😃😀👏👏👏
Great off road video, Katherine, thank you. Even the villages are squeaky clean and orderly. Great sceneries, away from the city sky line!! People gravitate to your nice smile and friendly looks! 🤩🤩🤗🤗
What a delightful treat it has been. Thank you for sharing your amazing bike tour. Looking forward to more of your videos in the new year. By the way, low crime doesn't mean no crime, so do be careful.
Yet, another nice video from this channel. Good to see wildlife in the tidal zone. Hopefully, tourists won't turn this into a Bali styled floating plastic nightmare. Would love to watch more ecology content in your future videos. Cheers.
Is Bali a plastic nightmare ? I guess I am behind the times , i always heard it’s a beautiful paradise 😭 I’ve never been though but that is a shame to hear . And yes I love exploring tide pools , I would have stayed there all day 🦀 but I wanted to show some sand beaches in the video too😄😄

@@kats_journey_east My mom was born in Hunan . Recently our local TV cable blocked us to watch CCTV . Mom is sad . I have never been to China , we watch your video with mom and told her we will see Hunan soon . She is very excited and looking forward to see your video so much . Mom told me she was born in city of 長沙. I hope that’s the right way to write in Chinese . Mom and dad were married in China . Dad used to tell me he hope one day I get to go to China to see his hometown and mom’s home town. The only regret he had before he passed away was to go back to his home town Shanghai but he was too old to travel . He died 102 , 12 years ago . He was a very respectful and wise man . Their first marriage and only marriage Mom is more than 20 some years younger than dad . When dad was in his 90, Mom used to take good care of dad while he had Parkinson’s disease, mom took care of him all the way . Mom is 92 this year she really misses her hometown . You are giving her hope specially during pandemic in US . all she ca do is to stay home watching TV and your life in China . Thank you Katherine for making mom’s dream come true , we can’t wait to see your next video ❤️🥰
Wow! I haven't Bumped into a Solar farm under construction for lets see how many years! oh yeah! ever.. Ramdon dots on the map are always the best in every country...young people seem so excited to see you/talk to you.
Thanks for sharing this trip. This part of Guangdong is so different from the greater bay area. The villages off the main roads are so interesting, especially the free range chickens.
Wow! Another beautiful country side ride about. You were a star to the excited giggling girls and even mistaken for a princess! Beautiful beaches, the countryside non touristy one and the touristy but for the meanwhile empty beach. Brave you! More of such rides in the future!
The Yangjiang area used to be very dangerous 15 or 20+ years ago. People told stories of being robbed on the highways or staying in hotels. Good thing that its seems very safe now, as overall poverty seems to have been alleviated. Also due to improvements in surveillance tech, public education and law enforcement transparencies.
I think China not become as dangerous as in the west coast of the states now becoz there’re many surveillant cameras and people don’t use cash at all , overall no where to hide
I loved it! I'm gonna share this one with my mom, when I was a kid we would go on road trips like this. Lonely roads in south dakota to see a buffalo scratching his butt on a post. I hope the west can get its act together on covid and more travel to China becomes possible for americans. What sort of podcasts do you listen to when on long bike rides? Got any recommendations?
On this trip I mostly listened to “telling our twisted histories” (about indigenous people in Canada) , “life jolt” (women in prison) , and “cancelled with tana mongeau” (LA influencer life) , completely opposite genres lol but all interesting podcasts
You started out with the breakfast of champions! And then finished on the coastline that reminds me of the coastline along PCH in California. You are a celebrity to those girls!
I enjoyed more of these vidoes than the regular city sights. U get to understand china better in my opinion. City people are usually more exposed globally, so it already has some global influence, at least the lifestyle.
Like your video. I lived at Maoming for 24 years, and only been back there for 3 times. My yuong memories all frozen there. My last visiting was 11 years ago. I hope to get back there one day soon.
Your videos always bring my joy. It's nice to see all these little places that are so different and to witness the kind interactions between you and the locals. They're charmed by your mastery of Mandarin too, it's truly wonderful!
years ago, my colleague moved to a new suburb and he said he could see toads in his backyard. now all the toads have disappeared !!!! but the damn mice are still around 🤣🤣🤣!!!! i guess this is the sad price of development 😢😢😢. those young girls, such innocence !!!😊😊😊. love from canada.
You really made the most out of an otherwise very ordinary countryside in China. Continue to shine with your love towards little things in life. Maybe need to pick some better background music.
I really admire your bravery and adventure, respect to nature and life, thank you for your journey that once again introduce my country to me in this special perspective.
What an epic trip, you certainly are intrepid! A lot of interesting sights, I imagine many of the locals would be quite surprised to see a blonde girl riding around rural China. I love how you capture the everyday sights and sounds of China, off the beaten track. Very well done!
You are an amazing person! What a sense of adventure, courage and curiosity you have. I admire your spirit and love your adventures. I spent two years in Changzhou and loved living in China. While I did a lot of travel, not even close to your adventures, I wished I would have done a lot more exploring in the south of China. The girls stopping a foreigner for a photo brings back many memories. Thanks for all your vids.
thank you so much for all the videos that you've made; the more yo make videos the more i learn 'bout china from greater city of new york & happy new year!
