Columbus is a beautiful mid sized city. It's 107 miles southwest of Atlanta and 80 miles east of Montgomery Alabama and 182 miles north of Panama City Florida. Great outdoors type city that's close to everything within a 3hrs drive.
The waterfront has definitely changed - for the better. I lived in Columbus in the late 90’s early 2000’s. Back then the waterfront was ‘Deadville’, nothing going on. Also, I could count the Hispanic people on two hands. There weren’t a lot of Hispanics back then. I’m glad to see an increase in the Hispanic population in Columbus. Columbus is a nice place. While I don’t overly miss Columbus ( complicated family matters), I appreciate your video.
the river walk is so beautiful..your making me miss it..if you go across the bridge near the college there is an amphitheather on the other side..walk down and sit on the little hill going down to the hooch and you will get the most beautiful skyline of columbus..im a photographer and have taken loads of photos down there
Went up there to work in the military base to do construction and sometimes instead of going home we would go to a flea market in Alabama in Smiths station. Other than that Columbus would not sell alcohol on Sunday so our trips to Alabama certainly made it worth it
Columbus more specificity, North and Uptown has gotten a lot better over the years! Growth has also picked up in recent years with the city reclaiming the title of 2nd largest city in Georgia.
I've been to that park right where you were walking and the area you came from first if you looked up there's a platform that they attached a cable to you and you jump and you go across to the other side to another platform Crossing all that water. It's near a college and that area you were walking in his actually you have the old Water Dam or whatever it's called right over there where those rolling Rapids were and you see those boaters that would go down the river and take the Rapids is a company that you can actually pay and do that yourself if you wish to. North Columbus is a much nicer area to live at least so the locals will tell you and so it looks they got malls and many of the stores that you have in very big cities and it definitely beats Lehigh Acres diversity restaurants, places to shop and eat and stay, etc. I loved getting this chance to see it again Jose. Thank you
Yeah cuz you know most buying properties just wanna profit off bs. Not saying just you. But I have a house next to me with different neighbors every month
Crime and Poverty is everywhere not just Columbus. You speak down on your City. If you born and raised here those two words shouldn't leave your mouth. I am from Columbus born and raised. Never will I speak as such as you said.
Those people water rafting are freaking crazy even if you are a good swimmer between the rocks and that strong current you could definitely drown goodness gracious.
For one we have a hight murder rate there is a handful of places in columbus that's not in the hood and the police really be tripping bout any Lil thing
@@groovykindoflove8055 I live in Phenix City now, which is just a hop over the bridge onto the Alabama side of town, I don’t really have any issues in this town, it is extremely affordable. I would be living under a bridge if I had the same salary I do right now in Miami.
@@groovykindoflove8055Phenix is a smaller town, but it’s about 5 minutes out from Columbus, rent is dirt cheap, but wages are cheaper in turn. I’m currently trying to finish a bachelors in Columbus state university, and then see where life takes me haha. Unless you have experience getting remote work, or you have a bachelors or a career most full time jobs in this area pay 14, 15 an hour. Crime is an issue but truthfully I do not encounter it and I live in a high poverty area, most people stay in their lane, or are just friendly, but I hear a lot about smash and grabs out of cars, and the occasional gunshot isn’t too uncommon but that’s most of southern america from my time traveling around it. Overall, I’m having a better time here than I ever would living to the last dime, or going into negatives/bankrupt trying to live in Miami.
and its in bad shape. no good restaurants, sad. we went to 3 places to eat and walked out of all of them.. limited menu, bad smells.. its depressing how bad the latino community in this town is fairing.
You should have showed that aspect in your vlog. There are Hispanics that thrive in this area, and a few good restaurants. Do more research on the cities you visit.
I laughed my ass off at this one. A Florida man talking trash about Ga. and Al. Take ass back down to South Spanish Harlem. Columbus never was spanish (that was about 30 miles south and they only built a sand fort before the Creek Indians ran them off). Come to Columbus as an American and you are very welcome. Bring your ancestry as well, but don't come here with the ideology of another nation. You visited on a late Sunday afternoon. No one is out. They have to work on Monday. Total bad analogy.
Tale of two cities exists right here in Columbus. Crime is rampant. Shootings with machine guns and high-powered rifles occur on a nightly basis in certain areas. It is truly heartbreaking to see a stark contrast between the new Uptown Columbus vs neighborhoods that were once safe, thriving communities now replaced by epicenters of violence and despair.
José u seem to perfer places like Columbus, Georgia & Naples, Florida because it reminds u of Cuba or the spanish culture.. Not liking Fayetteville, North Carolina which isn't too far from Lumberton, NC where mostly a lot of Lumbee/Mexican Hispanic Indians live.. There ate nice historic places in the NC also if u like knowing more about the Native American Culture.
@@Taino_ So what you doing these days? In 95' I was 16yrs old a Sophomore in High School. You should be in your 50s. I 42yrs old now. Do you come back to Columbus to visit?
I'm going to need you to put a little more respect on Alabama name 😆 🤣. It's not a bad place to live. It's past is it's brand and gives it a bad reputation. I recently visited Jacksonville. FL and I felt at home. it was a fancier Alabama to me. With Columbus being right there on the line, I am pretty sure it's the same. And yes, they hunt in Alabama. Inflation ain't stopping no meals over here.
Not gonna lie I hate that city but I guess I’m biased because I did basic training at nearby Fort Benning which sucked. Never knew that Georgia could get so cold in the winter
Columbus weather is Subtropical. Scorching in the Summer and Freezing 🥶 in the Winter. I know I live and still living in Columbus. No wonder you don't like Columbus cause you probably sucked at being a Infantry Soldier too. So say it's just you that sucks not Columbus or Fort Benning.
Hood and gangs what about a racist law system can you be black and drive down the road without be up tight soon as you see police... People of different races deal with different problems lol
Lmao if you think downtown is the hood, you need to move around in Columbus, like A LOT 😂😂😂 I moved tf outta Columbus an hr north but I know it and Phenix City pretty well. But ya don't know much about that area, I bet you're from a nicer neighborhood in PC or Columbus, and young, I mean I don't want to say dumb, but uninformed...
And only hungry people fish and keep fish from that part of the river. Some lakes off of the Hootch are good fishing, but ibe never once kept and eaten any fish from that area. We have caught fish and given to homeless that live around the river as they do eat them. Something is better than nothing. But you are NO WHERE NEAR THE MANY "HOODS" in Columbus, GA...you must be military and new.
