I like the fact that you respect the artifacts you find and leave them undisturbed for others to see in the wild. So many time these things, like the railroad spikes and hurdy cups, must end up on someone's nick-knack shelve lost to history!
FTB, when you come across railroad ties, take a good look at them. Quite often you will see date nails in them. The railroad's maintenance of way (MOW) crew would drive them in when changing out ties and inspecting. There will be a two-digit number on the head, ie, 36, 41, meaning 1936 or 1941. Really brings the timeframe home when you come across them.
It's really amazing that the buildings/ structures haven't survived (have gone completely due to weather conditions), but the clearings haven't become overgrown. Any idea why?
Great job on everything. I don't put my financial abilities on line. If you ever wanna go through the middle of Seminole county I'll give you everything I know and pay as much out as I can. Remember I've got five kids. So it might be gas and food, with a place to stay. And as much knowledge as I've collected over my lifetime.
Really love your old Florida videos. Wee request, unless you need to hide your identity for security reasons, could you not lose the sunglasses especially when its overcast? Just doesn't come across right when it's obv not sunny. Really enjoy these vids, and if you need to hide identity to do them, fair enough. But if you don't, be be real with us? We'd appreciate it. ♡
I don't hide my name is Joe Dunn but my glasses and bandana over the years have somewhat become a trademark of mine and it's not like I am not real just something I have become part of. This is my identity and who I am and the brand if you will, but I am real and talk to fans and people all the time on the trails who follow my work. I give back trust me! Be careful with those sunnies on when is overcast, all sorts of things to fall in or trip on, (or snakey types) in those places you go for us. We wouldn't want to lose you! :D
Sunglasses can double as eye protection for me, when I'm scrabbling through the brush to get to the shoreline or river bank, looking for good fishing spots, having your eyes covered certainly helps. I enjoy your videos, thank you Joe!
@@FLtrailblazer we're here in the Naples area, I've spent a lot of time in the Everglades, near Ochopee FL, mostly camping and fishing. I've come across a lot of history while walking the old trails through the Big Cypress and Everglades NP. Take care.
