I have this 369 games in 1 thing for my GBA. I mainly only play it for the five Pokemon games it has: Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald, LeafGreen, and FireRed. The makers actually did a good job, and I haven't had any problems. I don't know if this could count as a bootleg, but it's still cool.
I've stumbled across your videos several times in the past, and I always remember enjoying them. I'm not sure why I didn't subscribe when I first saw your videos a while back(possibly years ago, if I'm not mistaken). I really liked this video. It has hit me with nostalgia haha. I used to love downloading and looking into Pokemon rom hacks when I was younger. I started attempting to make my own Pokemon hacks in 4th grade. I just found all of them so fascinating, because they were made by fans, like myself. In 6th grade, I bought my first bootleg Pokemon game, Blue Seas version. My friend and I played it so much, but I don't remember beating it due to not knowing how to/unable to progress. And I also don't remember there being that many bootleg cartridges floating around. Tl;dr Subscribed. Keep making awesome videos (even though I know this particular video was posted 6 months ago.)
When that opening cutscene for the bootleg Silver started up, I got a HUGE wave of flashbacks and instantly did a double take. "No way did I just hear the Little Nemo NES intro" Played that game quite a bit as a kid lol.
The Pokemon White bootleg she got made me remember about that creepy Majora's Mask cartridge that wrought havoc on the internet a few years ago. Lucky for her only the booklet is scary.
@@aaronweers8697 I remember when I heard of it I just downloaded the game and played it on an emulator. I was scared that something weird/creepy would happen but eh. Except for a few odd sounds and volume here and there? Nothing.
I remember 1998 when this game 1st came out for the USA. I was 9 going on 10 yrs, w/ Pokemon-Blue on the original gameboy, all while having to play under a lamp because the lighting was so bad. Great fun. :D
So, I have a GBA cartridge that I got when I was away on holidays years ago, and it's one of those cartridges that has "___ games in 1". This specific one has 250, with a bunch of oldschool gameboy games, some ported NES games and a LOT of bootleg games. The most notable one on it though (and I'm not too sure whether to call it a bootleg) is Pokemon Emerald. I've bought other bootleg Pokemon games over the years: Silver and Leaf Green with broken English, and another "Leaf Green" where it's a side-scroller and you play as a green Clefairy (seriously), but Emerald on that cartridge is perfect when compared to a legit copy. The dialogue, gameplay, music, everything is perfect. what makes it funnier is that I got it a year before Emerald's English release, with it being fully translated. Needless to say, my friends who had Ruby/Sapphire were extremely confused. BUT, there were also some really weird games on that 250 in 1 cartridge. INCLUDING the "Pokemon Yellow/Looney Tunes mashup" that you mentioned in the video. Seeing that in the video made me laugh so hard, knowing that it's still out there, causing more confusion, and possible nightmares.
I think now - especially in the Internet era - it’s easier to get ahold of these things, and it seems like it must be easier to make them too since they’re practically everywhere, but back in the late 90’s/early 2000’s it was near impossible to get these even if you wanted them. I used to loooove seeking out weird bootleg carts as a kid. It meant I’d have Pokemon games nobody else at school had! Usually you had to go to certain little mom n’ pop shops and vendors in majority Asian neigborhoods, like 8th ave in Brooklyn. There’d be little shops that would sell all sorts of electronics. You’d ask nicely, once you got around the language barrier and they figured you weren’t a cop, they’d pull out the good stuff from a shoebox under the counter or something. I got all sorts of weird stuff. One particular highlight was finding a horribly broken English translation of Gold/Silver (both on one cart) almost an entire year before the game even released in the US!
Maybe explore the world of gen 1 glitch Pokemon and their effects? Apart from the well known missingno there are loads more and it’s really interesting

I noticed that not only were those last two bootlegs both based on old NES games, but both had the involvement of Japanese studio; TMS behind their respective original productions; Tiny Toon Adventures and Little Nemo in Slumberland, the movie of which Little Nemo: The Dream Master was based off of. This is probably the closest that TMS will have to doing anything related to Pokemon? However if they do get involved in the future, then hopefully the animation would at least be top notch. :)

At one point I had a Bootleg Pokemon 7 DVD which was split in 2 seprate parts into 2 seprate discs. getting Pokemon DVDs let alone in the UK that wasn't chronicles back then was a pain.

Make sure to get a protective playing case, I dropped mine only once and now the blue light comes on, you hear an audible click, and then the light goes off
Chipflake also has the pokemon yellow 2002 thing but he has it on a ds game called pokemon 156 in 1. It has 155 other bootleg pokemon games on it. THE PIKACHUUUU!!!
I'm watching this for the first time now and the White bootleg reminded me of that time I found a bootleg cartridge of Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga. The booklet had the entire text from IGN's E3 2003 PREVIEW of the game.
3:40 I HAD THIS GAME AS A KID. Basically when I was a kid I had a Nintendo DS Lite, and Mum bought a bunch of games off eBay to go with it. They were GBA games though, not DS games, and that Pokemon Silver bootleg was one of the games included. The gameplay music is BURNED INTO MY BRAIN, it's that repetitive and grating. It's the only thing I could clearly remember about that bootleg. But the intro, the title screen... yeah those are instantly recognisable to me. The only difference is that IIRC my copy was in English. I think the label on the cartridge was also different?
I worked at eBay taking down these things when the DSi came out. Nintendo literately sends a VeRO request with thousands of counterfeit carts, and the sellers are always out of Asian countries. I used to actually hunt down the counterfeit games during lunch and then remove them. And yeah, identifying how to find counterfeits on eBay isn't hard: - Stock image - Only NEW IN BOX, otherwise, it's fake. Stolen stock images with watermarks is another clue it's fake. Likewise, no photo of front and back, fake. - Non-standard cartridge plastic (this was mostly unique to Pokemon) - Obvious repro trash (new boxes, labels, yes people sell "NEW" labels and boxes, which are counterfeit copies of the originals) There's a lot of smaller things that are internal criteria that requires knowing what certain counterfeits look like in the first place, but it basically comes down to the seller being lazy and incredibly stupid. When I worked at eBay, the cartridges that I was always taking down were counterfeit FireRed and Emerald , but also all the unlicensed pokemon GBA carts, and "preloaded" ones that were just counterfeit copies that have the default player have all the pokemon maxed out because of cheap save memory hacking.
The funny thing about that bootleg pokemon yellow is, the way they made it using tiny tunes is the same way nintendo made the Mario games, they replaced the sprites with mario, Luigi, princess peach, and toadstool
