Great video, Chris. Super location. Great train shots. Really great drone shots. Carol’s voice is so nice I could listen to her just reading a menu. The rain made the milk tea look really good. Q’s: 1. Are there a fair amount of foreigners visiting there? I didn’t think there would be many given SL’s remoteness and recent terrorist incident. 2. Does the drone camera have audio or would the motor/propeller just drown everything out? - I thought it would have been cool to hear that stunning waterfall from above. Cheers.
Sup bill! There were actually quite a lot of tourists i thought, was expecting there to be less but the locals did mention that tourism has gone down for sure... I guess next year it will pick up again hopefully
I think the drone does have audio but never actually used it, but those propellers are noisy so can’t imagine how it could pick up any other quality sound really
The central mountain region acts as a climate divide. On one side is the ever-humid zone in the southwest, which, with peak values in April - June and October / November, has annual precipitation of 2,000 mm on the coast and over 5,000 mm in the mountainous region. On the other side in the southeast, east and north of the island in the rain shadow of the mountains is the drier, alternatingly humid zone with annual precipitation of 1,500 mm (southeast) and less than 900 mm (north). I guess Ella belongs to the montainous region that gets a lot of rain. That's why nature is so lush and green. Those drone pictures and the hike were amazingly beautiful. Thanks and cheers.

I'm jumping into some of your back catalog. I will check out these Sri Lanka posts. My wife and I traveled there for 2 weeks in late 1981. Looks like the tea country hasn't changed a bit. What a diverse and beautiful country! We loved the food too. We also went to the Maldives for a week and chartered a boat to take us around to various islands.
Great Video guys. As a Sri Lankan I can tell you "you made the best choice hiking along the rail tracks and jungles". The forest footpaths are pretty much safe to walk through (apart from the leeches). I like that you guys are budget travelers. Same here!
If it's available, stuffing newspaper into your shoes will absorb the water & help them dry & keep their shape. There's something to be said about being caught in a drenching downpour!!!😁😁😁 this was visually beautiful & dynamic- nature wise!!! Unlucky are the people sitting in a tiny cubicle with 5k other people making shit money and barely having enough food and a shithole house to live in. You guys are EXTREMELY lucky! Oh yeah definitely didn’t mean we are unlucky in life, just meant we always get bad weather when we go to mountainous places. Sure is an incredible place 😁 next video will show it on a nice sunny day 👍

That was a very dangerous hike , to give you an idea , Those locals at 9:06 were really worried and keeping an eye on the mountains and talking about some resort nearby ( or airbnb) that got caught up in a land slide
if You can get a vedio new area which is called nilwala rock and algama ella.you can do a vedio free of budget because it is unpopular area but very beautiful.

Not much planning really, with internet it is so easy to find stuff to do now... even on the same day you can search on google “things to do in Ella” open up a few links and get some ideas. On this day we literally just saw people on that hill and decided to try and get there somehow lol
I really love your videos among all the videos I watch. When go from one to another city in Sri Lanka such as Colombo to Kendy to Ella, you book your nights in advance to make sure you get a room to sleep for the night or you just book on the day you get to the new city? And you book on Airbnb? Thanks
Always use Airbnb usually with booking.com as a backup. We normally book the day before but there have been many occasions that we book on the same day and we have never had issues so far
Jumping Places thanks. Thinking of going there in August for about 10 days. Simple light visit . Wasn’t sure how I could manage the places to stay but it seems there are plenty and not so expensive on travel booking sites. Hope the visa waiver for US passport holder continues
The amazing thing about sri lanka is its diversity in such a relatively small place, if u go to a place like nuwara eliya the temperature does drop to close to freezing during December, with frost ..
