This just popped up out of the blue, so watched and thoroughly enjoyed it -- just as good as slightly later Sussex Border stuff, thanks.... and the good Mr Greatplum on form as usual !!
The forest is so beautiful. I'd feel perfectly at home camping there a couple days. What's interesting about England, unlike America, is if you're an art painter you could stand anywhere in the country and look out anywhere in any direction and see a beautiful framed image you can paint. I know you appreciate it all as much as we do.
Great pub - get there early to park - go for a walk up Leith Hill and come back for a pre booked lunch - what a great way to spend a very nice Sunday lunch time
Absolutely beautiful, can’t wait for autumn …thanks guys thoroughly enjoyed it,will be heading there this October, such a shame just seen that the pub there has closed permanently
Back in the 60s we would go on our motorcycle to Box Hill. And one time we rode from Box Hill to the street. Amazing and at that time of the year the thing I remember was the carpet of Bluebells.
Stephen Langdon was a 13th century Archbishop Of Canterbury. He was present at Runnymede when King John put his seal to the Magna Carta. Another great video Richard!
Another great vid Richard & Matthew. Beautiful walk! Love the autumnal colors! Very pretty, quaint little village. Loved the old stone & wood cottages & pub. Beautiful little pond w/ an interesting history.👍👏
What handheld mic do you use here? Shure VP64AL, AKG D230, Beyerdynamic MCE 58, RODE Reporter, something else? The sound is very decent, but I can tell it's not the LEM DO21b, nor it's a Superlux PRA-318L and probably not a Sennheiser e845.
@@RichardVobes Thanks. I guessed it right, then. Mighty Blighty confirms its mightily outrageous reputation when it comes to gear pricing. Just a cursory glance at offers on Avito, which is the prime Russian second-hand exchange (something between Craigslist and eBay) shows that the regular price of a used D230 in excellent condition is between £50 and £80, the most expensive one being £180 BNIB, the cheapest just mere £12.50 (yes, twelve and a half quid - although it's in Elista of all places and already sold, of course - reserved to be delivered to some other region of our most vast land). I guess that I'll get a D230 myself soon. However dire my finances are, I guess I can afford less than a hundred US dollars for such a marvel, even if I have no shortage of microphones for almost any situation possible in ENG, broadcasting and vlogging. Yet, a reputable piece of gear is never a burden in our trade. That won't stop me from getting LEM DO21b given a chance, even if just as a collectable (but only in working condition) - I've seen that French contraption in action and was duly impressed. The one that François Picard of France 24 uses, is of some ripe old age (they started to produce it in 1962 or so), and, as François himself told me, he uses the thing for more than 30 years inheriting it from his older colleague back in 1980s and it never once let him down ever, be it on radio, TV or online... DO21b has a reputation of being as good in terms of sound as it is indestructible. At that, François commended my Superlux TOP-258, which is a Chinese clone of Shure SM57 Beta... or, rather, a subject development influenced by the famous Shure, because TOP-248 and TOP-258 have durability and bulk of a cast iron gatepost in a shape of traditional dynamic vocal microphone, and sound quality surpasses equivalents by Shure and AKG (tested in studio/lab conditions; I've got three of those, one 248 and two 258 for about £45 in total for all three new in original packaging... new old stock. I felt it was my mission to save these things from being abandoned on a dusty warehouse shelf).
Well done once again chaps! After having visited Leith Hill it makes sense to drop down to Friday Street which is truly a gem of the Surrey countryside, it makes me very homesick to see these places ( I grew up in Ashtead). I'll be in the area in a couple of weeks and plan on doing. a walk from South Holmwood up to The Plough pub in Coldharbour.
