Mike, there is a shortage of baby formula in the US. This is why people asked about this. What you showed is baby food. Formula is the stuff you mix with water and put in bottles. You are very nice to try to show viewers requests. I enjoy seeing the differences in Germany. Have a great rest of your day!

Yes, Aldi does not sell formula. The word in German is Baby Nahrung. He can find it at Drogeriemarkt DM, Kaufland and other bigger Drogeries. He could take a picture of the back showing the ingredients, possibly people who would venmo him he would ship them, it is permitted now by FDA to bring baby formula from Europe.

The Infant formula shortage in the US is because of contamination with Cronobacter was making babies sick. Now the onus is on the manufacturer and supply issues causing the shortage. Abbott in Southwest Michigan had to shut down again recently due to flooding and rain damage from severe atoms moved through the area

@@Og-Judy A few years ago there was a similar scandal with baby formula in China. Here in the Netherlands there were lots of Chinese buying up Dutch Nutrilon formula. Most super markets set a limit of one or two packages per person. I remember seeing a crazy video of two Chinese women fighting over Nutrilon in front of a super market in Amsterdam.

Germans don't use baby formula as a regular baby food. It os considered just as a special treatment when breastfeeding doesn't work, when the baby needs additional calories etc. That's why it is sold usually only in drugstores and pharmacies as it is not viewed as 'food' but more as 'medical aid' (same for all those 'food supplements')
@connyknopf334
@connyknopf334 2 года назад
For all who where asking about baby formula... Aldi don't sell much baby stuff anymore, because it didn't sell well. Few weeks ago they skipped it and donated formula and diapers to Ukraine. Supermarkets (like Edeka), drugstores and pharmacies usually sell formula. At Müller they have a whole shelf for it. And it usually costs beetwen 5 to 11 € per package (it usually contains about 500g). For special formula you will have to go to the pharmacy.

Thank you GiV! We are finding your broadcasts of everyday things in Germany very interesting. One thing we’ve learned is that the food looks SO MUCH BETTER and CHEAPER in Germany than here in US. Why is food so much more expensive in USA, and we are stuck with terrible Wonder Bread-type crap bread in supermarkets too. All the bread in Germany looks like the kind we pay a lot $$$ for in a little bakery. Also the beer there… so cheap!! And the scenery looks so green and pretty. Why the heck would you want to come back to USA? Maybe you can split your time and live half there and half here?

@Nalon1984
@Nalon1984 Год назад
In Germany, the food industries always negotiate with the markets. Aldi also buys overproduction from manufacturing companies, these get the Adimarkten packaging. That's why you buy branded products in the Aldi brands. Branded goods are often hidden behind many of the private labels in German supermarkets. But because they are not advertised, they are also cheaper. The small baking stadiums in supermarkets are not considered bakeries in Germany. For good bread that lasts a long time and doesn't start to mold after a few days. Should you pay a little bit more and go to a baker on your own street in Germany. There you also have more choice and you can only buy half a loaf of bread there. Germany is the Land with the most Art of Bread´s, i know about 350.

As a student, I had no problems with that anyway. Nothing has changed in that respect to this day. I have great respect for the life's work of the two ALDI brothers who always delivered the cheapest prices with good quality. You could always rely on ALDI. Unfortunately, the business successors turn the ALDI principle a little. The assortment grows and grows and more and more branded products displace ALDI articles. Aldi articles are mostly re-labeled branded products. BTW I'm from Krefeld and the ALDI shown is around the corner from me. Greetings from Krefeld

I enjoy Aldi but wish it would get its stock room inventory in order, because there have been continuous supply issues in the only store within walking distance of me. In recent months they've run out of pasta, whole milk, half & half, coffee creamer, plain oatmeal, and cornstarch, among other common items---which took weeks to restock. The empty shelf areas do not look good, especially in a store that already carries far less than a large, full service grocer ten minutes from me....a local store that never experienced shortages like this even during the worst of the pandemic.

I like going to the Aldi's here in Michigan. I like the fact that their stores are smaller and easy to navigate. The prices are also decent. Another thing I like about Aldi's is they provide a chair for their cashiers to sit. No other stores do that.

This is the solution: The ALDI in Germany 🇩🇪! Great prices and a huge selection. I like Ritter Sport Marzipan too, costs $ 3.15 here at the Walmart. "Diebels Alt" would be the beer for me or "Gleumes" (for Krefeld insiders). I personally shop at Sam's Club, all the prices are now nearly double. The "Aldi Sued" is so clean, beautiful. Where is "mom"? We miss her. I hope, she is doing well. You will miss Germany, GiV, when you are back in the States 🇺🇲, I guarantee you that. Every country has their plus and minuses. Enjoy a beautiful weekend, you got very lucky with the weather overseas 😀😊☺.

There is an Aldi down the street from me where I live in Southern California. I never think to go there, but when I do, I find all sorts of unique products. I worked for Trader Joe’s back in the 1970’s when I was a kid. I was there when the acquisition took place. Back then, we only had around 15 stores including the original Pronto Markets. Back then, we were a glorified 7/11, and we even had a large magazine section and sold all types of cigarettes. I was told by one of my bosses that when the new owners were touring all of the TJ locations before the acquisition, they liked the store I worked in best.

I heard that GMOs are not allowed in food sold in Europe. Interesting how they are allowed and all over the food sold in the USA. I notice that the Aldi brands sold in America say 'manufactured for Aldi' even the foods that say they are German foods. I wonder if that's how they get around the GMO thing to be able to sell the stuff in the USA yet make it with GMO ingredients. I wish Aldi in America sold more German food actually made in Germany and not just made for Aldi in America. I don't want the garbage with GMOs. And there is nowhere in America to find real authentic German breads and rolls except maybe an authentic German bakery, of which there are not many of those left anymore.

Aldi is a store that sell cheap products, it doesn't represent the prices of regular stores at all. Regular stores cost like 2-3 times more. Also the euro used to be worth 50% more so that make it look cheap now from the USA.

Superior? Every Aldi I've seen in Germany looks identical to the U.S. one's to me. The German Aldi in this video even looked rather picked over compared to the Aldi by me here in the states. Prices are slightly cheaper In Germany. But then again Americans on average spend less of their disposable income on groceries than Germans do. An Aldi is an Aldi from what I have seen. All cookie cutter.

No, it's a religious/anachronistic pain in the ass. Takes away half the weekend when the weekend is the only time working people have to shop. The USA had similar and equally ridiculous "blue laws" until ~50 years ago. We progressed. Germany did not. I lived in Germany and mostly loved it, but this archaic law was just stupid, especially given that it was based in religion, and Germans are far less religious than Americans.

@@DidierWierdsma6335 Europe is better if you want to lay in a hammock while achieving nothing while relying on government support. The safety net/hammock is much better than in the USA. Kick back, relax, do nothing for 80 years, then die and fertilize the soil- the Netherlands is ideal for that lifestyle. But if you want to achieve and do more than just survive, actually do something that matters, the USA is the better choice. Different systems, to be sure. Each person can make his own choice.

@@libertarian4323 It's nice that all shops are closed on Sundays. Of course, as an clueless American, you can't understand that. But in Germany, Sunday is a day when the family usually get together and it's quieter. We don't need to go shopping on Sundays. Just a day without all this hustle and bustle. It's just a different culture. Your culture is to drag yourself to the hospital because you can't afford an ambulance. Or you are enslaved as an employee by your boss because you have no worker rights. We Germans/Europeans can't understand that either.
