Beautiful scenery, I remember spending a few enjoyable weekends in Frankfurt when I was younger. Amazing food and beer and very helpful people. As long as you tried speaking German and not simply shouting in English I found people willing to help me with my correct pronunciation and the dialect too. You have helped me make up my mind to make some trips this year. Got to try a Jager schnitzel again washed down with awesome bier(und noch eine)❣️

They have Medieval Fairs in the next county to us, when my children were in the Junior school they visited with the school and they had to dress up, my son went as a monk and really enjoyed himself. I have never been to one sadly but thanks to you I have been able to see what happens. Thank you Hans, good luck 🍀 Mary-Ellen UK 🙋 👍

0:45 I see someone sneaking in behind you to go detecting - quick, chase them away, lol. What an excellent celebration of Medieval life. I suppose we will have similar gatherings in UK but they must be down south as I've never heard of one up in the north.

These are wonderful gatherings. They look fun. We have some here, near my town, in a larger city. Good way to enjoy how our ancestors lived.

I am so jealous. We don’t have anything like this in America, especially in the area I live. A house from the early 1900s is considered very old.

you have to come and visit europe.. germany has approximately 40.000 castles and fortresses. a lot to discover ;) thank you for watching!

I really enjoyed seeing this video and the one on the Spessart Forest. You might try the Veldenstein Castle where Kaiserbrau beer is make north of Nurenburg. This is a private castle owned as a B&B. That area is very old too.

Very enjoyable video of your trip to the castle Ronneberg my relatives live only 150 km from Frankfurt just East of Fulda in a small village called Filke,just above Willmars. I have been to Germany and seen the Christmas villages in Frankfurt and Munich and I thought they were wonderful. It must be very special at this ancient castle If I visited in Germany from the USA could I metal detect or would I need a special permit for a restricted area? Keep up the good work,love your videos!
@TerraGermaniaTG
@TerraGermaniaTG 10 лет назад
ah really. . .fulda is not far and its a nice city and region! yes the castle is very special. i love that you can move in the castle totally alone without a guide. the rules for metal detecting in germany are quite strict. you got to have a permission to do it as you can always find realy importand stuff in germany due to the long past. thank you for watching an please stay tuned!

hahaha. . .'nonsense'. . .i haven't got problems understanding you but cockney for example :P no chance! very interesting! quite old family!! here in germany they found bronze age bones in a cave next to a small village. the scientists took dna samples and compared it to the dna of the people living in the village. the result: a vew of the village people (not the band!) where related to the bronze age population 3000 years ago! imagine how you would feel when getting this information.fantastic!

Great videos! I have a question. I'm going to Büdingen and then Ronneburg. I have difficulty hiking long distances (I'm thinking from a far away parking spot) ... I can handle the castle itself by taking breaks. Was there a parking shuttle or a "pay more for closer spot" at the Christmas market?
@TerraGermaniaTG
@TerraGermaniaTG 6 лет назад
thank you for watching, I'm happy to hear you like my videos :) on regular days without any special events you can drive up to the castle almost to the gate of the castle. on crowded events like the christmas market it is a bit more difficult as most of the parking lots are at the foot of the castle. I'm sure that you can talk to the parking lot managers to get the permit to drive up. . .they have to make exceptions in such cases!

Yeah, it's bad news alright, lol Believe it or not the English language originated in my part of England as it was the centre of power when all the different cultures were coming from mainland Europe and Scandanavia. Even my surname (Thew) is Anglo Saxon and there are records of my ancestors (with same name) living in my area 1000 years ago. What you are hearing is 'proper' English, not that nonsense they speak down south, lol
