I don't get the distaste for Larry's voice by the majority haha, I think it sounds really really fucking good especially for a first full solo track using the Larry AI voice, was definitely plugged with alot of Larry clips for reference whichever AI software he uses as it's pretty spot on.
Glorb has unironically gave credibility to meme rap. And is one of the first positive uses of AI(Public Opinion) not only that but he/she has stayed anonymous the entire time created intrigue beyond just the music. We are witnessing something maybe not monumental but definitely unique.
I really like this line of thought, particularly the idea of Glorb giving credibility to meme rap. I’m not sure if it truly is unique, as the techniques of appropriation and concealment of identity have been used in art/music/literature for decades, however, I do think the medium and method in which Glorb has achieved their success and the community that supports them is what is unique.
The reason people enjoy this AI is cause it’s being used how AI has been used for years, a tool. AI “art” is just unskilled theft, takes art from others and makes a soulless creation. Here he’s still making the beat and doing the vocals just putting essentially a filter over it. Although many VA’s are against their voice being stolen, no one used here has said anything. But Kash Krabs >
I'd say this is more akin to Vocaloid than most "AI" art. So instead of working with an already made voice and song, they have the already made voices but make/modify(Not sure which) the songs before putting the 2 together
@@icyphoenix2401 Plus from what they've said they do a partial impression as well, get their voice as close as they can then use the AI to make it perfect.
36:39 Larry isn’t actually part of the story. (at the moment) and you can tell from the line “I stay out of beef in the reef but if we surf and turf imma make sure you get done well” he’s saying he’s not a part of this gang war yet. I say “yet” because of the ladder half of his verse “if we surf and reef imma make sure you get done well”. Kinda like he’s saying “I’m minding my business but don’t fuck with me”
@ZDTXT Surf N' Turf: steak and lobster claws. "I'll serve up beef and lobster claws. I deliver. but that beef gonna be done well brah." Surfing terf: rolling through ops blocks.
larry is the kinda guy who is chill af but if you do something to make him hostile then he will be your worst enemy. like even in the show he's [arguably] on par with sandy physically and could maybe even take her out given the right motivation and support, but 9 times out of 10 he'd rather just chill and keep up his gains or surf the waves.
@@ovyto6267 DAMN STRAIGHT BRO! Wi-fi-ve guys come on that 💩was too good! Paralympics!!! Naw she needs to come back. I don’t care if it’s lame with another revival! She was so cool!
Larry part is a foreshadowing of what the formula does. In the clip, we can see that Larry was lil lobster until receiving the formula. In TB2, Garry received an improved version, becoming a giant mIAW MEWO MEOW
btw that integrating real world feedback you talk about at the end actually started in "DnD" where Dankton directly disses fans who talked shit about "Sadkini"
I’d like to point out how the “Sadkini” music video and the lyrics aren’t the same; the music video is shorter while on the lyrics one there’s more lines as a recording left from Karen to Dankton
There's no question that my favorite Glorb track is Dumbbell and that isn't because I think it sounds the best or anything else it's just my favorite vibe
The bottom 2 slaps so fucking hard. The kaiju battle is so good. That’s peak. I was sitting in my work van blasting it while waiting to go into work. Some randos were eyeballing me while I jammed out to it.
I didn’t think about that, it kinda makes sense! Another commenter suggested that it could be because the Voice Actor for Plankton also voices Larry and that they’re somewhat similar in tone and register.
It's YNG Martyr, look it up. The interview gave away enough for people to connect the dots. For example, he has the same exact goggles and gloves in a music video, same background and couch and mic, plus YNG Martyr even posted a spongebob ai rap song on tiktok prior to Glorb's existence. They also have very very very similar music.
23:26 how the hell did I never realise that that line spelt out KFC? Am I stupid? Edit: also Larry isn’t on either side, he stays out of beef in the reef
Team Dankton all the way. his punches hit way harder. The Krusty Crew barely fights back. It's a 5 v 1 and Dankton still soloing. Name your best Krusty Crew Bars and I can counter it with better Dankton Bars.
The bottom two was like Avengers endgame for the series of SpongeBob videos. He should have probably ended it there named it the SpongeBob Saga and moved on to another animated series to do videos of
Hey James, I’m working on sampling some old school soul melodies and I want to get your experience on producing in terms of hip hop, r&b and trap. Ever heard of band lab?
Sounds interesting! I'd be happy to have a chat if you'd like to email me at j163.business@gmail.com. Yeah, that's the online music collaboration site.
Hey James, I just wanted to ask what is the song playing while your reviewing at 16:18 there. That beautiful background music playing. I really love it. Great reaction tho I listen to the whole thing!🎉🎉🎉
Thank you, I really appreciate it 😁 That’s actually one of my original songs, DAY DREAMER, as is all of the music used during the review sections. You can find it on all streaming services under the artist name J-163.
@@pacoxhd7015well we know that it’s gonna feature a new character. So there’s a chance it is filler but there’s also a good chance that it’ll tie in to the story.
Hey, I wanted to leave a feedback comment seeing as you're a small channel and unless the algo hits again, I'm probably not likely to find you again, but, I assume you want to hone your craft and make a bigger "thing" out of this all (Hey who doesn't, being able to do youtube full time is absolute goals after all) and I wanted to try to give an honest effort at constructive criticism. I watched the entire video, and to be honest, I only watched it for two reasons. One, I wanted to see if I'd missed any of the glorb tracks (I missed a couple earlier ones, so, that was neat to realize I guess) but, the other was because your title, branding, and presentation left me to expect, well... I guess a bit more of an "expert's" take than me as a layperson with little musical knowledge. An interesting lens to view this music from to make it more interesting to me. I say this with no intent for hatred, but to just offer constructive criticism. I didn't feel like you added much to this really. Your comments were pretty surface level, which, I get the impression you are certainly capable of a more informed, nuanced perspective and commentary from what you have presented and what I see looking at your channel. It perhaps might just be a result of having to listen to more than some other videos (I notice they tend to be in the 10-20 minute range recently, so, perhaps those are more refined), but, I think I would urge you to hone your ability to discuss your anecdotal experience and knowledge around the topic of music. Doing so would have made you here a much more engaging and interesting lens to view Glorb's music through. Since I would have loved to see a more notable exploration of the actual "impact" present, or what you think with your knowhow/experience that it has the potential for. Keep at it man, you definitely got the potential, but, I don't get the vibe you're a react slop channel, work on your on the fly commentary from a more informative/intellectual perspective and I think you got a lot of potential.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, I really appreciate the feedback and advice. Being a much longer video than I usually produce, I wasn’t sure how it was going to be received, I think the original edit was about 1 hour and 30-40 minutes. I do think I consciously approached this one to just explore glorbs creative process and progression as an artist, rather than do a full breakdown of each track, which I probably would have done if I had done individual videos on each track. I’d say that in other videos when I do go deeper into the nitty gritty of the production or song writing there have been many instances where I have received a lot of feedback and criticism, being called a “know it all”, “music snob” or “that it’s just music, and it shouldn’t be criticised/analysed” etc…. So it can be a fine line between making something that adds valuable commentary or something that just isn’t relevant to anyone or makes people angry or upset. Interestingly, I think the comment section of this video really shows that impact that glorb has had and continues to have, but to truly understand the impact I think we’ll have to give it a few more years to get the full picture. I guess there’s potential for me to do a follow up where I really explore glorbs impact on a deeper level.
@@J-163 Unfortunately yeah, you will run the risk of people saying the exact opposite of what I'm saying. I suppose to an extent it's up to you to decide your creative vision for your channel! My own preferences are not universal and what I like/dislike from channels like this might not align with the most mass appeal or artistic vision you have. But personally at least I think that's the traits that makes people like Anthony Fantano so interesting to listen to even as a person with less knowledge myself. It's not snobby to know about something and be articulate about explaining things about it. I think that's why "Video essays" are such a popular format. People like hearing passionate people discuss at length something they know too. Certainly there exists more room in the future to explore further impacts. Especially with stuff like the Moist interview with Glorb allowing us a lot more insight into him. Up to you how you proceed! And especially with this being a different format than you're used to, it's something to experiment around. Personally, if you want to flex your stuff and potentially hit another more viral video, perhaps the Drake/Kendrick beef would be a good next topic. Plenty of surface level stuff has been said but musical analysis of what has come out would be interesting to see, if that's a topic you were comfortable exploring. Either way, godspeed to ya man, I respect ya taking the critique well, it's an admirable trait.
what you mean by, "How to steal like an artist"? Glorb writes, raps, impersonates everything. just uses an auto tune to get the voices perfect. He even ghost writes for other big names in the industry. if anything he is a provider, not a thief!
Exactly. He’s taken the idea of Sponge Bob (an intellectual property) and then done all of what you said plus heaps more to create something new. That’s how you “steal like an artist”.
i love reactions and your are good i love seeing these songs getting reacted to i hope some of those scenes arent too much for you in terms of graphic content keep up the work
yeah, my theory was based on the fact that you had Dankton flying in the background. lyrically there's nothing to suggest Larry and Dankton or on the same team
