You can tell this was a BEAUTIFUL 'Estate', back in the day!!!! I know it might sound silly, but I've often wondered if a home gets lonely for it's past owners?!

This was, and still is, an amazing house! You can see the beauty in the bones of it, in every detail. I always appreciate learning the story of a house, and thank you for sharing your exploration, along with some history. You really do quality work. 💐

Wow that ceiling medallion on the ceiling as your first entered the house was a work of art. That was incredible. All done by hand I am sure. What an incredible find that player piano was. My FIL had one and it was amazing to watch it work. Your videography is very creative and so interesting. You go for the tiniest details which adds so much interest to your videos. Another superb job. Thanks for sharing this and taking me on a captivating journey. Just awesome. Loved it! CANADA

Back in 1981 we bought a Trailer for our first home & it had those exact curtains. And I didn't like them much! And 6 yrs ago I bought a house built in 1925 & it has those indoor shutters in the dining room & front room. Still haven't taken them down, but should, cause they are kinda broken up in many places. Love your video! Thanks! Love seeing these old places. The Rock Wall reminds me of my Dad, cause he did work just like that to many houses. He was a Brick Layer.

Why is this land not been sold? Are there living relatives holding on to it? I always wonder why these kind of places stand vacant for years and nothing is done. No one comes to claim it or to come and sell it?

Hopesmom77 , I agree whole heartedly. I have watched the areas around me being developed, then they build new houses, and thousands of people move into the new ones and walk away from the old. Can anyone say "recycle"? salvage the wood, brick, windows, we are using our planet up and no one cares! BTW: bourbon county my is one of the most beautiful areas in the state.

How is this not a museum? I see more and more old structures getting bulldozed and gone forever. It really is sobering once gone since there is no return. And it kills me such amazing craftsmanship is laid to waste yet McMansions get built that wouldn't last 10 years unattended.

@gloriahanes6490
@gloriahanes6490 6 лет назад
When William Tarr lost his fortune in 1890, no money was left to update and restore his home before his death. He probably had a small amount of cash to live on .... sad. It seems the mansions are hardest hit because of their size and the vast amounts of cash and work which need to be done costing a small fortune. It seems the smaller Victorian homes of 3,000 sq. ft or less are easier to save for future generations. We saved an 1862 Victorian built from solid walnut interior and exterior. Over the years the wood has harden and even a nail won't penetrate it. Solid structure and built to last 500 years or longer if maintained.

There is black entity moving across the side of the house from the 34-41 mark. It's about 3 or 4 feet down from the roof. Thought it was a cluster of dead leaves at first but when you slow it down you can see that's it moving.

A great subject for a video and the video so well done. I know that 30 years is a long time but I wouldn't have expected the decay and deterioration to be so far advanced in that amount of time for a house built when houses were built to last. Maybe there were decay and structural issues even while the house was occupied? Perhaps a few doors and some woodwork and a few other items could be salvaged but most of this house is too far gone to save. If not demolished it would be interesting to see the structure at regular intervals t watch how nature reclaims and to see what part of the house last the longest.
@KentuckyUrbex
@KentuckyUrbex 7 лет назад
Thank you Andrew, as to the condition of the collapsed part of the house, once the roof is compromised it can happen very quickly. Yes that would be interesting to see, I would venture a guess that the original front part would stand the longest, additions are often the first to go, as in the case of this house

There are very few "rags to riches" stories. Most are "rags to riches to rags" stories. Look at Long Island and all the palaces once built by titans of industry. Most of those fell into ruin, or the families turned them over to become tourist attractions. It's a shame for this beauty to disintegrate.

I have watched this home slowly beg for someone to bring the joy back to her as it once was. The staircase is magnificent. I just do not understand why whomever has been paying the taxes would allow it to just die. Let someone give the staircase banister a new life. Allow the doors to proudly open greeting it's new family. Why deprive part of this home the chance to live and not to die falling into a heap of saddened rotting nothing

Love your video and I subscribed. I wanted to ask you something. When I travel from Tennessee to Cincinatti, and take I-75 North from Lexington (I-64/I-75)., as I make the right turn to go North on 75, about a mile or maybe just alittle further than that. There is an old home off to the right, it has a trailer parked in front of it. I guess maybe people are living in the trailer while they refinish the house. My question to you is, Do you know anything about this home? The history etc...,

I don't understand why these big beautiful homes, part of this country's history are just left abandoned to sit empty and decay until all the beauty is turned into dust!!! The local county and state governments should step in and help get it occupied for the sake of the nearest town and they make more taxes on nice well kept homes than not!! I just don't understand the reasons for allowing it to happen. 😪
