I once met a group of American merchant marines who travelled the whole Latin-America. They swore no country can beat the Peruvian ceviche. In fact, every time they arrived at El Callao (port) the first thing they did was to go down to a restaurant and order ceviche.
Yes but it is incorrect to say Peruvian Ceviche, Ceviche actually it’s from Peru. Other countries try to copy with their own procedures. It’s like saying “Brazilian Taco” when it’s from Mexico.
@@cesarzepp Yes, it is original from Peru, but many foreigners who travel don't know that. And it is common that people ignore the origins of certain things. It's like when people say, "Colombian coffee is the best in the world, or Chilean wine is superb". Yet, neither coffee or wine are original from Colombia or Chile respectively. See my point?
I totally understand. I had to edit this footage and I was hungry the whole time looking at the food over and over again. LOL! Thanks so much for watching.
Thank you for saying that. I have said it on several videos but people don't take me seriously. I have never felt unsafe in Lima but I have always taken precautions. I really like how they are clear about the price at the desk, you pay and they lead you to the driver. It has always been a good experience doing it that way.
Great city with amazing food. You should also try Gaston’s Panchita restaurant. I like your channel and look forward to checking out your next videos. Cheers from Seattle! ✅
@@JuliaGonzalesTravels Yes, I have been in Pachita quite a few times. Highly recommended. Bon appétit and happy holidays! 🎄🎁 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lnJLivHTmVc.htmlsi=SZWCHS9Lc_DPC_tl
¡Muchas gracias!
Choclo... thank you! I love how they add it to so many dishes. It's a lot different than what I'm used to our corn in the States which is usually small and covered in butter and salt. (Well mine is anyway) I love Choclo! Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment.
I have experienced trouble in multiple cities around the world. As a Peruvian, I highly recommend ordering a taxi inside the airport, staying in Miraflores, and purchasing a SIM card there. I hope everyone can enjoy the best side of our capital. 😁
Thank you! I tell everyone who is planning to visit the same thing. I guess because I'm not local they don't always take me seriously. I have never felt unsafe but I always take precautions.
I'm glad you showed at least something basic about what tourists who come to Peru can eat. There are many of them who do not know that Peruvian gastronomy is one of the best in the world.
That's true and that's why I do this channel. I love food obviously but Peruvian is really something special. I hope more people see this and come to Lima to try it for themselves.
What a good report, being in Lima and Arequipa, maybe on another occasion you can go to the Kuelap fortress in Chachapoyas - Amazonas in the north of Peru. kind regards.
Great video. Glad you loved the different foods you tried. Next time try chicha morada, torta helada, passion fruit cheesecake. Some of my favorite desserts, of course the picarones are the BEST!!!!!!!
Nice video for only 24 hours in part of Lima and got the chance to taste some popular dishes and drink, I wonder if you finish the breakfast sandwich that would be plenty for the rest of the day in my opinion, It looks so delicious and yummy.
I'm glad you have had a great time in lima peru 🇵🇪 I was in lima in october and going back this coming March By watching you channel I'm going to those Restaurants that you went looks so good thank you I'm going to subscribe to you channel Looking forward to see the trip to Arequipa
Oh that's awesome to hear!! Enjoy your trip. One other restaurant I couldn't get in, to highlight that I highly recommend is Isolina in Barranco. You will love it if you haven't already been. Have a wonderful time! 😄
The picarones are made with wheat flour, fresh pumpkin, sweet potatoes, eggs, and milk. The honey is made with sugar cane juice or agave honey (all of them are boiling with cinnamon stick, cloves, fig leaves, dry oranges slices, and also has a bit of purple corn chicha morada), no artificial flavor, only natural👍 cheers
Wow, you just made me hungry. I think I have to try making this at home!! Have you made them before? It seems like you have. Thank you so much for watching and giving me information.
@JuliaGonzalesTravels yes I used to work in a family restaurant business in Lima, and making the picarones was one of my work. Unfortunately, a long time ago, I even hadn't taste again😀, but one of these days, I will try again. It is not that difficult. once you have all the ingredients, you can try it. There's a recipe in Google or RU-vid. Maybe in different ways they do, but all of them have their own flavors and style.
@@alfonsovaldez9034 I love that. Yes, I think I have to try these at home and since Christmas is around the corner I think they would be perfect for Christmas morning. Now I'm hungry talking about Picarones.
I might have... my spicy tolerance has increased since traveling to Peru. I used to be such a wimp now I'm a little less of a wimp. Thanks so much for watching. ☺
I really don't like sushi at all except for California rolls which I guess doesn't count. I really don't like raw fish but I have had ceviche in Mexico and did like that. I will give the Peruvian version a try. Nice video and fun to watch.
Yeah, I totally understand. Raw fish doesn't sound appealing but in Peru, you must try the Ceviche. I've had it in Mexico too but to be honest it's best in Peru. Remember only at lunchtime, when the fish is at its best. Thanks so much for watching!
@@ChefBendOregon Yes or if you haven't already please visit Isolina in Barranco or Porcus in Miraflores two more great options! Isolina you will probably need a reservation but it's one of my favorites!

Muchas gracias por mirar. ¿Japón? ¡Guau! Eso es genial. ¿Has estado en Perú?
I am very happy that you visited our Peru, I can only tell you that there are different places where you can taste our delicious food and the way of preparation is different in the different restaurants. There are better restaurants, better than the acurio ones. Which is half Gourmet. 👎
I believe you. The scope is winde in Peru, there are so many wonderful restaurants. I'm open to reccomendations, we come back about twice a year so we will be back soon again. Thanks so much for watching.
Thank you so much I appreciate the kind words. I'm just now finishing up my stay in Arequipa it should be out this Saturday! Thanks so much for watching. 🥰
@@hispania1507 I was just talking to someone else about the Picarones and I think I'm going to try to make them on Christmas morning, I'm already craving them again.
@JuliaGonzalesTravels When we store dough, it is very easy for the top to rust and harden. To avoid this, we place them in a container and cover them with transparent film, but so that it sticks to the dough, to avoid contact with air, which is what causes the dough to spoil. You can keep in the fridge 8 hours. So prepare the dough one night before.
Best country we’ve been to in South America. So vibrant, you have A LOT to do at any hour of the day and the culture and food scene is on a whole another level!
@Fabio5gdd, Clarification; Picarones Is Made of real pumpkin and sweet potatoes and not of pumpkin flour. Please get your facts straight and don't mislead the people.
@@JuliaGonzalesTravels true! It depends and also depends on the city. I live in Atlanta now but I’m from Cusco. I don’t like tamales from Lima but I like tamales from Cusco. The tamales are very different in every reacción aspect well 🥹
