As a young American, by the late 1990s, seeing how Marvel, DC and Image comics had declined to such garbage level quality I was exclusively reading and buying graphic novels from Europe/Latin America or small independents published books. Moebius, who I discovered studying in France in the mid 1990s, is the GOLD STANDARD of what a graphic novel should be.
Heavy metal magazine influenced me a lot as an artist and comic reader since I was bored with main stream comics, and it revitalize my interest in comic reading. the air tight garage was a surrealistic trip that work for fans of fantasy and beyond. I'm glad I have the original books where it first was printed. another truly amazing video of great memories and fantasy reading. Thank you.
Estas obras aún hoy te vuelan la cabeza! Cuando las descubrí de adolescente, allá por el 92, 93, todavía eran revolucionarias. Ahora ya son atemprales. ¡Muy bien video!
The Gardens of Aedena is also great. Allthough I could only get the final volumes in french or german. Same with the Airtight Garage when the final book only exists in french. I Believe It was some of Moebius' last works as it seems he was nearing the end of his life and apparently wanted to finish those two sagas. On the other hand I strongly recommend the Airtight Garage as a stand alone book. To me it is the finest Moebius ever made; the artwork, the mysteries and all. 'The Horny Goof' is kind of a standalone prequel to it and is also recommended.
I heard there is an Incal movie on the way directed by Taika Waititi, not sure if it still on development or whatever happened. Great video as usual! Cheers from México.
The only thing I know is that the movie is in pre-production and not much more, let's see if there is news soon. Thank you very much for watching the video and commenting
If there was, I did not get it at the time 😂 I even remember finishing the whole series kinda frustrated and waiting for some sense to be put in the story. It was just so compelling to read, though, a very imaginative journey, but probably nothing more, not like the Incal at least.
@@ericmaher4756 Same. Memory is a bit haze on the details but it felt more like an anthology based on the same universe and characters than something with a cohesive plot to me specially considering that Moebius started publishing the Airtight Garage on 2 to 3 pages installments, each with a different yet appealing rendering style. I always assumed that it was, like, a huge sandbox for Moebius to play with different story telling and rendering techniques. If there was a plot then it went right over my head although to be fair I was, like, 14 when I read it so perhaps it is expected that such mature storytelling and themes would not register with young me at the time.
Creo que a ti te gustaria bastante algo con lo que me encontre hace unos dias. un Manga (y tambien Anime OVA) que s e llama Dragon's Heaven -- de Makoto Kobayashi. Un mangaka influenciado por estas obras de Moebius.
