When a policeman asked you not to shoot, the reason for that is during the attacks in 2008, the areas which were attacked were first videographed and studied before. The concept is simple. India has too many people. Majority of them are not even middle class. Successive govt policies specifically prioritise urban development over welfare of rural industries due to which all the money is in the citiies. So poor people from villages migrate in humongous numbers to the cities. Given this background, consider that rich people are busy working 9-7 and need domestic help. Poor people who come from villages are happy to do anything to earn decent wages, so they get into services like domestic help, security, food and medicine delivery, catering, fast food, selling vegetables, basic necessities, trades like plumbing, electricians, appliance mechanics, etc. And all of these serve the rich / upper middle class. So you have the "servant" class living near the "master" class. In other words, the slums near the skyscrapers. In short, it is because well off Indians do not do menial labour at home and outsource it to the rural poor who migrate for a living because all govts have ensured that a supply of rural labour is never ending.

If people say "don't know the route" then you might think like being Indian they don't know? Waste fellow". So they want to act like "smart". So they will say some random route instead of saying "I don't know". That's why you will get different answers from different people in india. You need to ask many people and if majority of people say same answer then route is valid. 😀

Sadly the economic disparity means that the rich wall themselves in making their world inaccessible to the rest. This is why you’ll notice that the expensive hotels are way more expensive than the West. The high price is to keep the massive number of non-rich people out. The slums near the rich towers house people who provide services to the rich. Nice video. Keep up the good work.

Dude what an awesome video. Loved the narration too - very insightful thoughts on India and I feel the same way. Takes me a couple of days to get used to the noise, crowds, incessant honking, poverty but I realize they’re good people and I always miss India after leaving. Agree with directions like no one knows where anything is. Definitely feel very alive in India. I live in the suburban area of Mumbai, and frankly I see so difference between the area that I live in and south Mumbai. The only difference is in the rates of houses and restaurants there. Frankly there are few areas in Suburbs which look posh too and feel more homey to me. He should have visited Powai Hiranandani area.

I am from New Delhi and now live in Louisville for over 20 years, well I never like Mumbai just too dry for me lol. You must sometime take a trip to Kashmir and show the world, how beautiful it is and how peaceful it is as a integral part of India, vs what you hear in news, you should also take a trip to Leh, which is the highest road, you will be driving over 18 k elevation with color changing mountain and air is so light, KI am an hiker and have been to most of the area in that region, I miss those region so much, those cozy small little towns in Himachal Pradesh.

India is a special place. I agree, its the place i felt most alive. Cannot describe the feeling. Been to mumbai 6 times or more. You wont see spectacular neighbourhoods per se, its more about location and that drives sky high prices for real estate. What will be posh is the insides of the houses, and inside the walls in gated communities. The minute you go outside its government land and public places so it ain't going to be anything posh.

@@haiman2080 Malad is an area where there are houses near hills, it's beautiful, lower Parel has the most developed area in Mumbai, tons of skyscrapers, and India gate is a must. But as someone who visited India many times.... is recommend you to visit places that are more south in India, like Karnataka and Kerala, they are beautiful!!!! Mumbai is just another DEVELOPED city with nothing much to offer than skyscrapers.

Often you can go to one place through several different ways hence you get different directions based on which path the individual prefers. And I just don't understand why some fellow Indians find the Ambani home ugly. It's a marvellous piece of architecture. It's asymmetric and contemporary and i find that beautiful.

I'm not even from india and the first time i saw it i went "What is this monstrosity?" LMAO. It screams "rich" at your face, it's loud and shiny but it doesn't have a single trace of elegance. I guess people find it ugly not because of it's architecture, but because of what it stands for. It stands for the arrogance and pride of the ultra wealthy in a nation where half of it's population is struggling to make ends meet. It reminds the rest of the people that, "yeah, I'm richer than you'll ever be and i'm here to stay, remember that", every single day.

His house is so much expensive that I can't even imagine and have all the facilties but from outside his house looks weird. Mate, got it in one, I took my family to India and lived for 2 years, we lived in the suburbs not in an expat compound, we traveled throughout the country and met some of the most engaging beautiful people imaginable, the difference between the haves and the have nots is huge, and always in your face, I fell in love with people first and the country side and villages are just so welcoming, I rode an Enfield from Pune to Goa with my youngest son on the back of the bike, took 4 weeks stayed in villages and had to force myself to go home

I was in Mumbai several years ago. It was very interesting. I just stayed in the old part and walked everyday. There was so much to see and people were very friendly. When I was in India (for business) I was told to stay near to Powai Lake Hotels and it was so luxurious I was shocked by the contrast with the surroundings, hotel was all gold and marble and I have never experience such as ostentation not even in the most developed countries, I really understand the feeling of your experience, at some point you just adapt to the different realities people live in India
