I am no biologist. But nature is amazing at scaling a ecosystem to the size and resources you give it. If either is lacking, it will simply lower biodiversity to compensate. You can literally create an optimal setup for a jar, by throwing dirt into it since nature will always even it out. I highly recommend trying it!
@@roach7616 . Manufacturing. Not really anything to do with it. We just like to share cool videos with each other and try to stay away from the political mess while at work. We have a television in the lunchroom people cast and share cool videos we found on. I started out and supposed to be a CNC programmer and operator but somehow found myself working with manual machines instead. Water jet, lathe, mill, and break press. The switch was unexpected but I'm enjoying the Hands-On approach and appreciate the skills manual machining require.
@@dookcurruff9047 you believe someone should suffer a drawn out and excruciating death purely based on their choice of vocabulary? I’d suggest seeking professional help.
The way you treat this information is so respectful and noble that you give new meaning to this entire forgotten world. Thank you for giving us a different perspective of what the human sees and we have forgotten. Great content!
I discovered this channel half a year ago, and since then I've regurarly gone out and created ecospheres from local ponds and rivers with my dad (he studied freshwater biology). It's amazing how much you learn by doing it, even if the ecosphere fails. Please keep producing your great content!
Only problem I could see is no close ups. I really enjoy the close ups. But I would also LOVE if he could do a live feed. I would tune in quite a bit I think.
this is really healing me. due the high rate of corona virus in my country i can't go out like normal days back then. its really cured me just to see nature from your videos
@@Philip-sq7un some rudimentary asmr can be satisfying. But most is cringecel af. Definitely any eating, or gum chewing, like I want to chuck my device, and humanity, into a volcano when that presents itself.
I think those weird ASMR videos with the women are focusing on a different form of gratification.I find them creepy af. These videos on the other hand are fascinating and relaxing. One of my favorite channels ever.
Your videos are one of the few uploaders I watch full screen. Between the music, the subjects and the amazing camera work... Always look forward to the next update!
These video always make me melancholic. These little guys will never figure out they are living for the entertainment of an human adult and his viewers. Just like we ourselves, will probably never figure out the same thing in our lifetime...
Once, in Italy, there was a leopard. It grew up only knowing the four walls of its cage, but longed for something wild in a way it didn't understand. Then one night, God came to the leopard in a dream. God told the leopard, "I have put you in this place, at this time, so that a certain man will see you. And he will remember you, and he will write you into his book." And the leopard took comfort in this, to know its purpose. Even though it did not truly understand, for how could a beast ever understand the plans of God? Some years later, the poet Dante lay dying. And God came to him in a dream and said, " I have put you in this place, at this time, so that you would write a certain book. And that book will be remembered for centuries to come." And Dante took comfort in this, to know his purpose. Even though he did not truly understand, for how could a man ever understand the plans of God?
I only discovered this channel a week ago, due to it popping up in my recommended page. Now I am addicted to these videos and I have even created an ecosphere myself :D
I just bought a medium-sized jar from Michaels! Couldn’t decide between a really large one or a medium sized one so I settled for the smaller one as my first one. Just gotta choose a local spot to fill it up at tomorrow 🙂
1 month update: obviously some creatures died and all the isopods were driven to extinction due to overpredation so i just added some new isopods. So i guess its doing good after 1 month
I just posted a message asking if this was the guy. I'll assume it is since you asked as well. Yeah, hope the guy pulled through. Terrible thing if he is still sick.
How does this man have so many insects in his ecosystem? I’ve had my ecosphere for a year now and all I can find is springtails and woodlice :( I’m envious and in awe
picking the right location to collect soil/plants/branches can result in great amounts of biodiversity there is a spot near where i live that has amazing amounts of life
Man, this is so awesome. Just made my first rural pond jar. Hyped for when I get larger jars to make seawater and woodlands, and also update my rural pond one. Can watch em for hours. So soothing.
I have enjoyed the video and found it interesting to see such a complex ecosystem in a jar. Not going to lie I now come back for the soothing music thou.
Excellent video. I recently had a debate with someone regarding the balance of ecosystems and based much of the debate from your videos. Everything finds a balance eventually, one species of creature may dominate the rest yet, when food dwindles the dominate species will decline by either starvation or cannibalism which in turn, changes the nature of certain species. So much can be learned from a simple tank or jar, filled with local wildlife and observing changes over a long period of time. Remarkable and thoroughly enjoyable.
Loved the vid as always. So calm, peaceful and soothing. Your vids are such a highly welcome counterbalance to the crazy bustling world out there... hope you'll keep 'em coming and thanks for your works.
Hey brotha, just wanna say your stuff is really inspiring. I'm pursing the creation of my own paludarium partially because of your content. Hope you can keep uploading!
love to see your videos, I discovered you today and God I really enjoy seeing your terrarium and your eco-spheres, I even want to make my own ecospheres and terrariums, I hope you continue to share your ecosystems for a long time
Amazing! I found this channel some days ago but this theme fascinates me now a lot! Thanks for the amazing job. Yesterday, I watched the first video about this big ecosystem and thought that it would be fantastic to see the changes inside. How lucky I am! Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the nice video. I think it would be beneficial to include a before and after shot at the end for these sequential terrarium updates, so we can see how it's changed and grown since the initial setup.
How does this work? Do you just introduce a new pile of dirt once in a while and if anything comes with it, thats fine? Hence why you don't know if there are any earthworms in there or not?
They grabbed a lot of stuff randomly from outside for the ecosystem and some of the bugs were on the plants they got. So a lot of them were a surprise/they didn't know the bug would be there
I have some terrariums in much smaller jars / glass canisters, that I put together in October, mostly from stuff I gathered in a local ravine, plus some additional potting soil and houseplant clippings. In the smallest jar, it was about 2 months later that I realized there was an earthworm in there, when I happened to catch it in a tunnel right up against the glass one morning. In the medium sized jar, it was 2 months more before I realized there was one in there too! That one I spotted right up at the surface one day, and I'm not sure which one of us was more surprised when I took off the lid, but it did retreat underground again pretty fast, so maybe it was. 🙂 They do tend to stay out of the light, so that's why it's hard to know. But if you're using a glass jar, one clue to them being in there is that they tend to make the dirt kind of muddy and yucky where they've been spending time and eating. So those two terrariums have a gucky band all the way around, somewhat in the middle of the soil layer.
@@HeraldOfMetal No problem. I know it was an old comment, but figured either you or potentially a future viewer of the video might find the info helpful.
Did you seek out this balance of predator and prey creatures? Did you hunt them down, or purchase some? Very curious on how to get started. Beautiful videos. This is artistic and therapeutic. A true pleasure!
what a great job, a micro-documentary worthy of national geographics, could you ever make a video of how you film what you film, lighting, etc, I really like the theme of creating these habitats, and to be able to show them as well as you, new sub and I will start to see all your material. hugs from venezuela
I dont know what Im looking at but it looks gréât, makes me feel good, i see what i usually dont AND the music is perfect for this kind of vidéo. Gréât job fren
Hello! First of all great content you made me want to have terrariums of my one. How do you manage to get those close up shots? Do you have any special set up? Keep up the good content :)
Beautiful content. It may sound weird but your videos may help me with one of the most important and one of the difficult goals in my life. Thanks bud💪
