Exploring New Rock Fishing Marks | Day 5, 6 & 7 | Lure Fishing for Pollack | Sea Fishing UK

Day 5, 6 & 7 of my Orkney fishing adventure. Storm Eunice rolled through whipped the sea up rendering one side of the island unsuitable for lure fishing, I studied Navionics and headed to try and find a new rock to fish from.
Lewis, aka @koastal_luring, and I have been trying to catch a double figure pollack with relatively light lure setup's from the shore for several years now, we've travelled all over England, Scotland and Wales in the hunt and have come close but still not hit that golden 10lb mark.
Our experience has led us to believe that, although hard going with weather and seas, lure fishing for pollack in February gives us the best chance as the pollack are well fed and in great condition ready to head offshore.
Our last hunt was a few years back on the Isle of Skye but this time we opted to travel even further and try the less pressured and hard to access shores of the stunning Orkney Isles.
Join us on our 1100-mile 6 day road trip lure fishing for big pollack.

Glad you liked it John, it's been really enjoyable for me sharing my trip. I really appreciate you saying that but- this could be controversial -my personal feeling that non of us anglers deserve a fish, it's all luck. All we can do is be in the right place, at the right time, with the combination of the right bait/lure and technique on a specific day/tide. Its this mantra that keeps me going when things get tough but I'm sure we all have handles we like to use. Thanks again JW...not long now till bass season👍🎣

I am always amazed at your dedication when you come up against mother nature like that and all she does is steal your lures. I am a lure fisherman and know the feeling of losing a pocket full of lures with no fish, but as you know it's all part of the hunt. Hope you enjoyed the steak and hope your beer wasn't warm, you certainly deserved it. Tight lines my friend and look forward to seeing your next session. All the best.

Got to pay your dues to mother nature, sometimes she's kind and other not so. I think my stouburness comes from my winter mountaineering days, this fishing weather seems a lot more benign in comparison to spending 2 or 3 days up an alpine peak in - 27c. Steak was great and the beer was at the perfect temp😂 Cheers mate and tight lines👍🎣

The joys of winter fishing in Scotland. If you had been after cod on the East coast it would have been flat calm. Winter or summer a settled spell, even a short one is usually enough to get the Pollack up against the shore as you know. I think a settled spell in the Islands is usually about 10 mins ! So to get the fish you both had up there in winter was great going.

Gorgeous scenery - esp with the drone shots. Blanking is part of the adventure - otherwise it would be called "catching" instead of "fishing". Cant fault you for perseverance and determination though - great vid and thank you!

@@SlippyLimpets if it was easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing. I go - half to try catch fish, and half to enjoy being out. Vitamin sea is a powerful drug.

@@SlippyLimpets the supplier told me it would be cutting it fine with a delivery before I'm away so I did the unthinkable and randomly bought a galaxy sturgeon hv online (lots of places were sold out of everything), it was delivered about a week ago and to be fair its a really nice yak. Im away to Kinlochleven on the 1st for 4 nights so let's see if fish are attracted to it 😁.
