Heading to Gran Canaria on Saturday from UK. Just completed all the paperwork and can now relax and look forward exploring in the next four weeks. First stop Las Palmas for 5 days. La A siempre es A en español. Siempre. Never IA, no IA, nunca ia Las cuevas eran donde vivían los antiguos habitantes de las islas Canarias , los guanches de origen Bereber. Pero cuando se ocuparon las Islas en el s. XV, por Castilla, (España ) los habitantes vivían en la edad de piedra. Son ustedes muy agradables. Los vídeos de Madeira preciosos . Dato histórico: Madeira y las Azores eran islas deshabitadas. Los portugueses , en el s. XIV , XV secuestraban a los guanches, hombres de Canarias y los llevaban a las islas Madeira y Azores para trabajar la tierra como esclavos. Ese es el origen junto a los portugueses de la población de las islas portuguesas.

Very true, I’ve also read about the Guanches being brought to Madeira as slaves. We too have those same caves in Madeira which were built by the Guanches, although not to the same extent as the Canaries, due to the smaller numbers. Interestingly enough, the village where my family is from (Campanário), has a dozen or so of those caves by the shore, where fishermen used to stay nights at a time, one of them actually belongs to our family (they’re prime real estate now). Apparently you generally see these “Berber” caves either inland (where they used to stay whilst shepherding), or by the sea when fishing. There’s certainly a close link between both our islands, even genetically.

@@enriqueojeda6749 A mi me sorprendio escuchar, en canciones folkloricas de Canarias palabras como, " Magoa ", que en portugues significa, entre otras cosas, un dolor , tanto fisico como sentimental. La palabra " Besos " en portugues " beisos" que significa labios o boca. Una vez escuche a un viejito decir " Entullo " del Portugues " Entulho" que significa escombros o amazijo de cosas. Etc Nosotros tambien tenemos papas arrugadas, aunque no tan populares como en Canarias.

You must visit Güi-Güi beach and its cliffs on the west coast...Just behind these cliffs you were recording on your video from the restaurant. But you have to walk a few hours up and down under the sun but you 'll discover a paradise beach there. Or going by boat too.......

I've only ever been to Mas Palomas, so thank you for showing "the other" Gran Canaria. I'm not going to fall into the trap of comparing it to Madeira, as I'm sure you're fed up to the back teeth with people comparing the two (although there's clearly no comparison lol). Great content as always, love your vids

Obviously there is no comparision, specially between the capital of both islands and the beaches of both islands. Gran Canaria receives 4 times more tourism than Madeira and 10 times more population and 10 times bigger island. Madeira is more like La Palma.

@@franciscomendez4565 Gran Canaria, 1560 km2, 1956 metres high, 850.000 inhabitants. Madeira, 740 km2, 1861 metres high, 250.000 inhabitants . Gran Canaria is two times bigger than Madeira, no 10 ( The same than La Palma ). The whole of the Canary Islands is 10 times bigger than Madeira Archipelago. As a Madeiran myself, I don't think we compare our islands with the Canaries, tourists perhaps do. For us, The Canaries are just our neighbour, we share a lot of history, and have lots in common, even though it is not well known. Lot's of Madeiran go on holidays to the Canaries and nowadays the other way around too. There's no need to compare, we are after all, the Fortunate Islands, the Macaronesia.

I respect your decisions no matter what...Still, I do not find so many reasons to stay in Canare islands... after being in Madeira......anyway it is just another opinion...Maybe you have good reasons for that...Best of luck in everything you are trying to achieve....

@@Emma-kb1qw Ok...You are right about all that stuff...I have already wrote that this nice couple have their reasons to be on Gran Canary ....I respect that. Even for me it was a surprise the landscape ....We are so different as individuals as we should be, right!? ....still I have mentioned that without spanish endeavors to improve the landscape everything would be so dull....So, where are my ignorance and critics!?

No ofence intended...a vulcanic erruption can be beautiful to watch from the distance, I agree...but " beautiful vulcanic rocks formation!? Sorry , not my favourit sight by far...

Sorry but i visited Madeira this weekend and the cost is horribilis ,beaches horrible and artificial beaches. Beitifull islans but not for me.

To see this brown& grey lanscape on daily bases make me very sad....As I wrote before for me Canare is a good proof of what people can do to increase the value of that places....imagine a barren vulcanic lanscape ....wow...not for me....

All we have learned so far on our journey is that every place has lots of beauty (visible and emotional) and if we can’t see it it’s on us, not the place.

@@LauzaAndMichael And you have visited just mostly desertic places, the green part is not the coast, gran canaria coast is quete desertical. You have to go inside, but the landscapes are equally beautiful. Gran Canaria is know as a "little continent" because you can find a big city (Las Palmas), dunes desert (Maspalomas) and forest (Tilos de Moya, Tamadaba, etc).

@@Emma-kb1qw : Now you are talking...I was 2 month ago to Portugal...Lisbon, Sintra, Lagos ( Algarve) ...It is so beautiful starting with people....I did not visit Madeira but I saw many videos which proof the genuine beauty of that island....Best of luck from Bucharest....
