That's a beautiful beach. It could be in Abel Tasman. I've noticed that the girls are getting their hiking legs. I'm glad your ferry trip back was OK. I was supposed to fly over for a day trip but the wind was so bad it was cancelled! Next time I'm in the deep south I won't have a hired camper van so could spend a couple of days on Rakiura. I'll still fly over though!!! Thanks for the great video. Happy travels and good luck to Harvey for future Kiwi Guardian post locating.

Another fab video, how cool that Harvey was able to add to his Kiwi Guardian collection. That feeling of dread to get back on the ferry isn’t great, so pleased it wasn’t as rough again. When we lived there houses had their own big generator for power, we lived at Butterfields Beach.

Great video. I have never been to Stewart Island and am shocked by how small the main street is. Thanks for the tour.

living in nz frm last 8 years bt never get chance to visit south island nd also nt stewert island 🏝️ thinking nw after watching video should goo too see that beauty stuck in bay of plenty

Apparently, if your not a local, visitors a charged a $5 levy which is included in your boat or air ticket, or via honest box if you come over via other means. I don't think any other council in NZ charges a levy for non-rate paying visitors.

Loved the video! We can't wait to go see for ourselves, good advice, we will spend at least 2 days when we go. I do have a general question on camping: How much cash would you recommend keeping on hand for paying for campgrounds like DOC where there are only drop boxes? Thanks again for sharing your adventures!

looks like such a cool place, would be interesting in Winter, when it's freezing, and low light hours. What was the water like for swimming?

Ferry is $110 now unfortunately. Also Half the individuals on our boat were sick. Pretty rough journey.

Lol. Great video but not for landlubbers on the ferry. After two or three trips the stomach adjusts. Island life is for the tougher generation.
