The old dude in the picture at 12:55 is Heihachiro Togo, Commander of the combined fleet during the Russo-Japanese war. This guy's life is pretty interesting as he saw Naval combat through the arc of Japan's modernization era. He's one of modern Japan's first national hero's. He also seemed to be quite a character, writing in one of his journals (which he wrote all in English mind you) "I am firmly convinced that I am the re-incarnation of Horatio Nelson." This is legend material right here :D
