Just for the record: "Billeterie" : "Tickets" to go up the Eiffel Tower "Confiserie": "Candy store" so Shy Guy is selling candies here "Boissons": "Drinks", Yoshi is selling drinks :)
Paris promenade is so accurate i'm really impressed : the building at the top of the staircases is le sacré cœur in Montmartre. The skyscrapers in the back do exist irl : these are the tall buildings in Place d'Italie in south east Paris. The amount of details in this track is insane
I'm guessing the high polygon count for Paris is partly due to the Eiffel Tower? Due to it's appearance, I can see it needing to quite a lot of polygon, especially since it's as close as physically possible to the track... and you can come from three different sides. So it must be high poly.
Surprised you're tackling the booster tracks! I think Tokyo Blur looks better overall - definitely better foliage - but Paris Promenade looks better when you're on the track itself. On Tokyo I sorta feel like all I see is highway.
Parisian here. Overall the look of the monuments themselves are accurate , but the places of them.... not really. Tho, kinda hard to judge. 0:23 Church of La Madeleine, made for the glory of the Napoleon Army 1:48 is L'Arc de Triomphe, a very well known monument (who is connected with 2 other arcs , one in the Louvre Gardens, one in the Défense sky scrapers, little easter egg of Paris ) , built in honor of people who lost their life during the Revolution and napoleon times 5:15 The Obelisk of concorde , is one of two Obelisk made in Egypt 3000 years ago, moved to Paris. the twin is still in Egypt to this day 7:37 the river Seine , + the cathedral of Notre Dames in the distance top right 9:25 the opera of Paris I think ? It's so low polygon lol 10:06 the Sacré Cœur Church. A very beautiful church with the whole view of Paris and even more since its very high up. Overall, i wish Paris looked nearly this good 😅
I love tracks taking place in a city, and I remember exploring Mushroom City in Double Dash when I was little, trying to take all the out of bounds roads. So those city tracks are really entertaining to explore. I'm looking forward to the future exploration videos, especially the explorations of the city tracks we'll get next in the Booster Course Pass. Also, Wuhu Town could be fun ti explore. I don't think there'd be many interesting things to see, especially with the two 3ds Wuhu courses that already exist showing all tje interesting parts of Wuhu Island, but it could still be fun.
As A Geography Master I was surprised That in the they included Notre Dame and the rest of Paris and Tokyo as well! All of this is very geographically Accurate! The red tower in Tokyo is called the Tokyo Tower, And the Mountain in Tokyo is Mount Fuji which is the highest mountain in Japan
These tracks are a lot more detailed than people without these tools realize and give it credit for, it’s a shame. People that call the tracks in Tour/the MK8DX DLC lazy or bad clearly don’t stop to smell the fire flowers like Mayro does and instead just judge a course by it’s grass.
It feels like Paris was meant to be bigger and more maze like you know like a real city little short cuts and other routes would of made for a super good battle tracks if Mario kart 8 has those still I don’t know myself
The deluxe version has custom battle tracks that are themed after race courses, so if battle tracks are added then I could believe paris getting a battle track.
i just think paris promenade's music is so cute visually, both tracks are way more detailed object-wise than people give em credit for (the textures are wack though esp. on tokyo blur but w/e)
As a track, I prefer Paris to Tokyo by quite a lot. I actually pick Paris to play on online sometimes, apart from that stupidly long turn at the start I think it's nice to drive on, whereas I think Tokyo's a little boring. Tokyo's way cooler for the exploration mod though, I love those views. Absolutely loving this mod so far, neither of these tracks blew my mind like MK Stadium and Water Park did but this is still really cool to see!
There's a very low chance this will work at all, but I'm seriously looking forward to seeing Mute City. That track is absolutely filled to the brim with details
As a Parisian, there is some truth to how the track is made compared to the real world. Not a lot of truth tho , Paris can be pretty but I wish it was this good 😛 Great vid!
@@metachop7444 dirty, annoying, but great for some neighbourhood Very far from how this track looks , it might have been like that some decades ago tho
In terms of geog, they’re more about cramming as many landmarks in as possible than having any geographic consistency. It’s not a case of it simply being shrunk down either, they’re just sort of plastered everywhere. It’s particularly notable in Paris, whereas Tokyo has a rough east/west split at least, though the rainbow bridge being right in the middle is very anachronistic. It’s kind of interesting to see what’s left out. Paris has tons of iconic landmarks but none of its palaces, like the Louvre or Les Invalides - and then likewise Tokyo Imperial Palace is also mysteriously absent. Louvre in particular surprises me given it’s more known as an art gallery now, but despite Paris being the city of art none of its galleries appear - the Pompidou in particular is a very distinctive building, though maybe it would have clashed too much with the aesthetic. Tokyo is also missing any Shibuya landmarks, one of its most famous districts, tho for whatever reason it does seem West Tokyo was really neglected - one of the background buildings is clearly the Metropolitan Council building in Shinjuku but that’s sort of it as far as West Tokyo goes, no Meiji Shrine, no Harajuku etc.
@@LacsiraxAriscal well, yes ... and no. It's complicated to tell (especially when you're not familiar with English), but when a new city track is release, the entire map is made, and a lot of areas and roads are blocked with barriers. And when a new version of the track is release, some areas are unlocked are some are now blocked. It might be confusing, but I advise you to watch videos about Tour tracks to make you up your own mind
2:37 Yeah, that's definitely what people are complaining about. Not the textures that aren't on par with the base game, it's one floating tree that you can't even tell is floating.
Hey Mayro! In case you're curious about what the shop stands names are (they're pretty accurate, there are so many different stands around the Eiffel Tower. Tourists pay for some very overpriced food there lol): Billetterie: Ticketing (since people can go up to the top of the Eiffel Tower, I guess they get tickets for that) Confiserie: Sweets Boissons: Drinks I'm impressed, that's a very accurate representation of Paris. They did an incredible job with that one, and I'm genuinely amazed by the number of details in it!! Edit: I did not see that fourth stand name! "Glacier" means "Ice cream maker", although usually, people would just use "Glaces" which means "Ice creams". Once again, I'd like to say they really nailed the aesthetic of Paris, especially the zone surrounding the Eiffel Tower. It's impressive!
the new tour tracks look really cool when you explored them out of bounds, I hope they bring back many more tour tracks which they will so that you can explore them.
I've actually been to the part of Paris Promenade at 10:04 irl on a school trip before. My goofy 14-year-old self almost fell off the top part of it just in front of the cathedral, but that's another story for another day. Just know it is *much* higher up than it looks in-game.
The tracks are surprisingly accurate. Tokyo Blur isn't to surprising given the Mario kart team lives in Japan, so they see a lot of the the stuff every day on their commute to work. The red little tower in Tokyo Blur, is called "Tokyo tower" its basically their slightly smaller version of the Effile Tower. The Farriswheel is most likely suppose to represent the one in Tokyo Disneyland. The white skyscraper tower in the background, thar is just floating, is the "Tokyo Skytree." And the mountain is the famous "Mount Fuji." I forget the names of the rest of the buildings and structures, but all if them do exist IRL. As for Paris, it is also extremely accurate. I know I've seen the big building in the background, before in pictures but I can't remember it's name. However for a lot poly rendition it is fairly accurate. Aside from the hills clipping into the paths lol
i LOVE how many nooks and crannies there are to explore in the tokyo blur track! The paris track was really cool too though, but i think Tokyo Blur is my fav of the two ^_^ I love these exploration videos!
Honestly, I can't pick a favorite! I think both of these tracks looked amazing, and benefitted from the Exploration mod. I particularly like the attention to detail in both the Paris and Tokyo track, but I can't choose one! It defintely gives me hope for the second wave of DLC tracks, hopefully more tracks with this quality come out.
Hi, I'm having a little difficulty listening to the audio in this video, the lack of ums and pauses in the speech is making it hard to keep up with the pace of the video.
Episode 4 of the MK8Deluxe OOB mod series I wonder how many episodes it will get (For people who thought there are 2 episodes (like me lol), the first 2 episodes are over 11 months old)
I think Tokyo blur was better. Mainly because there is so many nooks and crannies to explore and do many cool areas. Paris was good but I don't think it topped Tokyo
Un billet is a ticket in French so une billetterie is a ticket shop. That won would sell tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower. Une boisson is a drink/beverage.
