Watching this because we’ll be going there soon for the first time. We booked a camping spot on the beach nearby to take our camper. Thanks for the in-depth drive around tour!
We vacation every year in Port St Joe, cape san Blas. It’s a great little town and the absolute perfect beach vacation!! I am glad not many people know about it! We use to go to Santa Rosa , Blue Mountain Beach but suddenly it was like everyone started finding out about it so I perfect treasure because over crowded. Loved & Subbed!
Wdy, I grew up in port at joe and it is not hidden. If anything it’s getting worse with all the yanks and snowbirds buying out homes out from under our feet after Michael and pushing the “old joe” out considering to country. It’s becoming bushy especially with most of the shops in downtown owned by non locals
If you don’t mind saying, we’re flying into Panama airport. It looks like the only way to Port St Joe’s is renting a car the whole time? Do you have any recommendations?
@@booniesbox6811 it’s possible it’s the time of year we go. Being as I’m only there for a week, that’s not a lot to go on. So im sure you are right since you live there. It would be a completely different story. It would suck to live in a tourist town and have it over ran by strangers all the time but on the other hand it keeps revenue in the town. Hard to say if it’s worth it or not!
As someone who owns a second home in PSJ, you kind of missed the mark on this town. Houses are not cheap there and it is near impossible to get a long term rental. You should have gone to the Lighthouse, the Marina as well as Constitution park.. You are right about that drive on 98 though.. That is where our house is and it is amazing to be able to drive that everyday..
I started this video because for spring break I’m going to cape San blas. While doing that I realized this was and amazing Chanel with an amazing community and now I’m glad to be a part of that community.
We’re going to Port St Joes soon! We’d like to know about the beach, can I take a walk with my dog on the beach? Is it safe? Are people friendly? Are the restaurants delicious? Things that 😊
If you go twenty miles north to the town of Wewahitchka which is a charming lake town and former county seat there, real estate prices are much more reasonable for us Commoners plus you're still close to the beach. This highway reminds me of A1A back in 1970 when traffic wasn't as heavy, the pre disney days, orange groves as far as the eye can see on I4.
Go there every year! Love it there! That whole stretch of Gulf Coast is so nice. You should go on East to Apalachicola, too! Historical fishing and oyster town. You'll love it!
This is up at the top of FL, I got excited, I did not read the title correctly and thought you were are Post St Lucie …. Lol. Nice little town, coming from NYC. I live anywhere is Florida…. Lol.
Hope you like it! Sorry for the confusion! LOL _ your awesome. I do wanna visit your town.. but so many places and only one JOSE ~ Even NYC i wanna visit so many roadtrips wish i had my own jet LOL
Now THIS type of out-of-the-ordinary video of "Old Florida" warrants support from me, so I'll support you. Many yrs ago when I was stationed in Fort Gordon, GA, one of my good buddies that I went through school and permanent party with was from Titusville (right next to Cocoa Beach), FL, and my buddy and his wife both told me the area I was visiting (Titusville their hometown, invited me down for a 3-day weekend) was "Old Florida" as it had with only a single midrise in town (the waterfront hotel). Fast forward to now, and my Pres/CEO bought up some property in Port St Joe, in order to set up an export hub for ultra-clean synthetic fuels, and he mentioned to me the "Old Florida" vibe this place had, so while I haven't been there yet, you can bet I'm gonna check the place out and take it in. Starting around 2:15 as your drive through the VERY clean neighborhoods, cute homes. CUTE is the operative word, because PSJ seems a place devoid of palatial estates. But I like that, because it means PSJ is truly "Old Florida" personified, and that is a rare thing to find in FL as each year goes by.
I visited Port St. Joe three years ago and fell in love with it. Apalachicola is also amazing. One of those places I dream of living in but there's no good jobs for me. Maybe retirement though. I agree that US 98 is an excellent drive between Panama City and Citrus County. It's especially nice in Franklin, Wakulla and Taylor counties. Practically no people.
Prattville and Wetumpka are cool. Montgomery has scary spots. But also nice ones. Its not an incredible place, just a town for regular people to work and live. its not LA or MIAMI. But its a place for people who need affordable. Yeah, we done some videos in both places.
@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS Yeah me and the family will be up in Montgomery again to visit the zoo. There are many places in the capital city that I would NOT live!
Port St. Joe is awesome. The beach area headed in from Mexico Beach at the time line is one of the few beaches that you can have a genuine bone fire on the beach.
Soon you won’t be able to with all the tourist. Y’all leave your fire pits open on our beaches and leave them for cars to ride over and pop a tire. There considering a mess now and there getting ready to ban it
The real estate is expensive for something decent in a nice area.. Low income housing is almost non existent there.. Most new houses being built there are in the $385,000 and up range..
We are in Tallahassee. We went down there once to get groceries at the Pig LOL while staying on the St. Joe peninsula ( that's an Island now after Hurricane Micheal...and we left our info with our brother in law ( back then we had elderly parents to worry about ) so he could contact us if need be. Our Bro said it's not a remote outpost for Gosh sakes...LOL...and I'd said hey if Port Saint Joe aint a remote outpost I don't know what is. LOL Back then it was kinda poor but it's uptown now. Apalachicola is pricey but I think it's because of that fancy Inn and the fact that it's historical. Air conditioning was invented there. Hallelujah.
You kept commenting on new construction. They’re actually rebuilding from the hurricane. And for Pete’s sake next video turn off the annoying navigation.
Hey guys, Is it possible for you guys to do a video of Port Charlotte Florida ?? Concerned mostly about schools and what’s in the schools and what % ??? Thanking you in advance, PAUL.
i’ve noticed youtube is taking the likes off a couple videos that i’ve liked recently including your channel... any news on why youtube is doing something like this?
Tourists before usually avoided Port St. Joe because the of the paper mill that stunk up the town but it was the bread and butter until it closed in 1999,the economy then crashed, lost half it's population, had an unemployment rate of 20 percent, now it's more popular with tourists and retirees,Gulf County where it's located at has only around 14,000,plenty of room for growth.
Over weight ....hell no Jose, finally someone seeing what I’ve been saying for years about Dade County Cops 90% are fat slobs. It’s shameful. Love you both, stay safe
