'Tis a shame when the State of Florida forked over those miles of beautiful, scenic, waterfront U.S. 98 between Highland View and St. Joe Beach to a greedy developer, namely St.Joe Company. Same company that had the odiferous, dioxin dumping paper mill. We know somebody got PAID $$$.

In 1938 Port St. Joe opened up a paper mill and tourists avoided the town because it smelled until it closed in 1999,unemployment then surged to 20 percent so it took the town a long time to recover but the tourists returned and is now growing bonkers!
Geologically, Florida perches on top of what geologists call the "Florida Platform," a plateau that is mostly underwater. Due to sea-level fluctuations through geologic time, the Florida Platform has both been entirely underwater (during interglacial periods) and entirely above sea-level (during glacial periods). Today, only about one-third of the Florida Platform is above sea-level So lot's of glacial ice = lot's of Florida, and no glaical ice = no Florida.
Perhaps the only thing to stop Florida growth is for the climate up north to warm up. But.........for that to happen, the ice caps will have to melt, and Florida will have to go back into the sea from whence it came. When there were palm trees growing in Wyoming, Florida didn't exist. it was under water. According to geologists in those days, it was quite pleasant to live in Antarctica and Greenland.
