Paula and I spent three nights at Donnybrook Caravan Park to explore Pumicestone Passage and Glass Mountain Creek. (I am sure it was once called Glasshouse Mountain Creek). We had fish and chips at the Donnybrook Bait & Tackle on the first night, very nice. There is also the Donnybrook Jetty Store, where we checked in to the caravan park. Park amenities are good, and it is close to the boat ramp. The park was quiet and peaceful. The amenities lights were very bright, and their being on all night was a problem in a tent. Hopefully that will get fixed. Some LEDs with timed dimmers? Or shades for the lights?
From Wednesday to Sunday you have the opportunity of eating out at Donnybrook Sports & Community Club. I remember having a nice meal there with friends from Sandgate Canoe Club a couple of decades ago. I think it was a bowls club then.
On our paddles we sighted many raptors, pelicans, egrets, herons, stingrays and even a jabiru.
The first day was cloudy with morning showers, but fined up in the afternoon. That day we discovered an upturned jet ski stranded on a mudbank opposite Thooloora Island.
The second day was much sunnier and warmer. Much better for photography. We explored Glass Mountain Creek. On the return we visited the Mission Point campground and Poverty Creek campground.
On our last night Don in the caravan next to us offered some cooked crab for dinner, which was gratefully accepted. We enjoyed that with some salads and wraps.
The morning of our departure, we were greeted by a glorious sunrise. A good couple of days. Thank you, Paula.
