This week we rented a cute little Smart Car Convertible (we named it Squirt) and did a one-day road trip around the island of Rhodes to find the best things to do!
We start off inland a bit in a park called the Valley of the Butterflies . It’s a green and lush park with lots of streams and waterfalls, unfortunately because it was the end of the season we didn’t see many butterflies.
After this we hopped back in our car and went to a place that is always listed as one of the top beaches in Rhodes, called Anthony Quinn Bay (named after that actor who used to have a house nearby). We didn’t stay here long, just to get a glimpse of it and fly the drone.
Lastly we headed farther up the road to hot springs called Kallithea Thermal Springs. This place is a huge complex with a restaurant, event facilities, loads of loungers and a beach where hot springs run into the ocean (it unfortunately doesn’t seem to warm up the water much so swimming seems the same as going to a regular beach).
ABOUT RHODES
Rhodes, the largest of Greece’s Dodecanese islands, is known for its beach resorts, ancient ruins and remnants of its occupation by the Knights of St. John during the Crusades. The city of Rhodes has an Old Town featuring the medieval Street of the Knights and the castlelike Palace of the Grand Masters. Captured by the Ottomans and then held by the Italians, the palace is now a history museum.
