A group of biker friends, Papawa, Tatak Peewee, Chavin, and Jong Hilario, embarked on an exhilarating journey through Silay City, known for its deep cultural roots and vibrant history. Our first stop was the Philippine Air Force (PAF) Fokker F27-200 Friendship aircraft, a historic plane that once served as the presidential transport for the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos. This magnificent aircraft is now a proud exhibit in Brgy. E. Lopez, Silay City, offers visitors a unique glimpse into the past.
Starting from Panaad Park and Sports Stadium in Brgy. Mansilingan, we rode through scenic routes to reach the plane’s new home. After exploring this piece of aviation history, we headed to Kutsarita Cafe for a quick and delightful meal. Our next destination was the legendary El Ideal Bakery, a cornerstone of Negros Occidental's culinary scene. Known for its delectable piaya and napoleones, El Ideal Bakery is more than just a bakery-it's a cultural treasure that has been delighting locals and visitors since 1920.
The day's adventure concluded in Bacolod City at Handum Cafe in Brgy. Villamonte, where we planned to meet more friends. Although our friends had already left, the journey itself was a rich blend of exploration, history, and delicious food. It was a day well spent in the heart of Negros Occidental, filled with memorable moments and a deeper appreciation for the region's heritage.
