It seems like it must have been a nice, tight-knit community. When I was looking online, I didn't find a lot of information about the mines in the area. I did find one article where a gentleman said he remembered there being a WWII camp there in Gypsy. I was just wondering if you might have heard that, too? I noticed that specific information on several of the mining towns in that area is not so easy to find online. Thank you so much for commenting and watching my video!
When you took that left at red car to the right down that road was a company store the old mine was north of that they turned that store into a nightclub in the 70s
I knew hill people can be insular and clannish but all those “No Trespassing “ signs are just overreacting and paranoid in my opinion. I’m descended from hill people but the presence of the signs draws attention rather than avoiding it. Unnecessary and extreme. Did the Fleetwood Mac song “Gypsy” play in your mind while driving through there?
That was one of the songs going through my head! lol I'm not sure why there were so many signs in so many places. I was thinking maybe something happened there at one time. It is a very historic town, though. Thank you for commenting and checking out my video!
