Wild to see this place now, been some 20 years since I first explored it, and it has deteriorated a lot! The spot with all the machines still had a roof back then. Two things though - youre open disclosure of the place endangers it, so ya know. Of course its trashed and forgotten, but open disclosure invites thibgs like increased security, and worse, arsonists. Just a little advice about doing that, because old cool abandoned stuff is getting more and more rare. Being discreet about where you are, like not naming them with real names, etc, might allow them to be around a bit longer so other people can have the experience you are...anyway, carry on!
Glad that I was born in the mid-seventies and not before the mid-century, having Epilepsy and Dystonia. This was hell on earth, not a place anyone should have gone.
They had a big music department, even a band who played on the Ed Sullivan Show. Many music therapists were employed there until they closed. As for the residents, many of them were absorbed into agencies like Oak Hill and now live in group homes.
Would you happen to have any more information on this place? Sad to see most of these people fell through the cracks of our mental healthcare system, and most ended up homeless on the streets as well.
I'm glad you ended up checking this spot out! It's fun to see which buildings you decided to go into; you definitely did at least one I didn't! Great video as always; keep it up! Also, top tier piano solo homie 🤣
LOL, thanks as always for the support! There were a few buildings I was unable to get into, and a few I probably could have gone into, but didn’t-it was such a massive, vast property. You could really spend all day exploring it!
UCONN owns one side - by the ponds used to be a police training facility - then it was a minimum security prison (two people escaped but were caught). Years ago they knocked down 2 of the buildings but have not done anything with it. Word is they may move the high school there. The ponds used to have nice bass in them - at one time also huge goldfish. The state stocks it with trout in the Spring but the ponds need love and attention as they have gotten quite overrun with weeds and cattails
The fact that you were near my local Walmart in one of your videos is so cool it was the one where you were in Leicester ma looking at a small abandoned building if you saw a Walmart that’s mine!
Heeeey neighborino!! I used to work at the Leicester Walmart, I live in Worcester, but so close to Leicester had to say howdy! Watch his video on the Fernald, there was a short time I was homeless and the state placed me and my child there for about a year...? I LOVE watching all the different videos exploring that location because I already explored most of the campus when I was there. SUPER COOL 😎, and HOWDY neighbor.🎉
I like your content always very informational! For longer vids like this you should try dividing the sections of the buildings to the sections of the vids too if that makes sense my wording is awkward sometimes lol. Also you should check out Laconia State School/Prison up in NH! I can show you around during the day and the middle of the night! Very big property
Thanks so much, man! That’s a good idea-some video chapters may be beneficial for long-form content like this. Also, I’ve heard many interesting things about the Laconia State School! That’s definitely on my to-visit list!
@@j-mass Alot of history to Laconia State School! And i most of the time go exploring at night because the pros of it kind of weigh out the cons and I can show you all the entrances. If I message you on insta wanna talk about it on there?
When you mentioned an abandoned town it didn’t make me suprised because I went to Pennsylvania in July and it looked so abandoned and the streets looked like they were part of a horror movie I started to get a little creeped out and there were almost no stores there were mostly just fields so when you mentioned Pennsylvania I immediately thought about how abandoned most of the state looks
Honestly, I’m not sure. I doubt that it has anything radioactive, but it definitely contains harmful materials like asbestos and lead paint, which are both dangerous.
I looked up that Hoover Conquest, and they were made from 1969 to 1973, so that's a bit older than me lol That one is from 1970, so gives us an idea of when this place was bustling.
Ive lived in mansfield for my whole childhood, never knew this place even existed. Got coordinates? Also, i doubted they "treated" people lol more like lobotomy and chaining ppl to beds
@@j-massI used to work at WHUS in the undergrad days, so it was super interesting to see these. I never knew we used to have space in the depot campus. Might have to go see if I can dig up any artifacts. Don’t worry too much about the records though-the station still has shelves and shelves of them in the student union! Gotta be thousands in there. If these were left behind they probably weren’t getting too much airplay to begin with 😂
I know you probably like to keep your channel PG but everytime I read the graphite I would be dying laughing , maybe add a bit of humor on some of these videos idk just a thought
