Nice one, Stuart. I don't like it when the farmers try to move the trig points. (And we are farmers). Should be OS responsibility to tell landowners to leave them alone. Nice one as always 👌
Thanks for watching mate. Appreciate your viewpoint as a farmer too. Agree it should be the OS responsibility as everyone else seems to not want to know.
I thought a strange sea monster was going to make an appearance Stu! As always, well planned, well told and very entertaining. Disgusting about that trig point, they should all be listed, ownership of land is a legal figment anyway.
Hi Stu, brilliant video mate, so interesting. I love walking through old buildings in the hills and trying to picture what it was like when it was all operational. If only those stone walls and cast iron wheels could talk! All the best mate Dave
Great video stu I've never noticed this but think I need to have a look now. Great knowledge and history about the place to loved the bit about the workers and company. Can't wait to see your update on the guides too they'll be brilliant. Keep up the great work mate 😊
Great video, Stu. Having a long overdue catch up on your channel. Would it be fair to deduce that the cement works opening at Hope in 1920's were a big contributing factor to seeing the demise of these slate quarries?
Yes definitely, as slate was used a lot for flooring etc and cement replaced it as easier and cheaper. It's a shame as you can't beat a good old slate floor.
This trig pillar has now been removed from Chinley Churn. Was it the 21st of April when you visited it? This is the last documented pictures of the trig that I can find at the moment, with there being no logs of the trig on T:UK from 25th Nov 2023 onwards - so Im keen to understand the time line of when it was removed.
Apparently there is a virtual tool for Errwood Hall ruins which allow you to stand in the ruins and see a reconstruction as it was. Not tested it yet, but is on my list this summer to do. Go pro down side is single sided sound if you are listening with head phones. Is there a setting to tweak? Or just something to be aware of? Excellent video again despite this.
I was using an external mic, but then started messing with the audio in the editing software, hence some of the variance in audio quality. I've seen the virtual tool its pretty good. Cheers for watching
@@thepeakdistrictviking If it helps it is just your speaking that was coming out as single sided, the music and editing additions were perfectly balanced. I did have a mo when i had to check the head phones weren't failing.
