You two have 'no' idea how this sharing ( YOUR You Tube) has affected a family in the Southwest ( Arizona ) and a seriously chronic ill female military veteran who needs the Dalles Veterans home for necessary wound care and a place to happily call home. We are a bonded family --like you each seem to have --our sister before bad car accident lived in Oregon; had to move in with Mother in Texas for past 11 years; been suffering a fierce flesh wound; is disabled. My sister's heart ached and ached to leave the asphalt and glass living of Dallas, Tx. and return home to Oregon. This video of your humor, your enjoyment of each other, your parents and a day in Dalles, Or. --made our day this day. God's blessings to you and many smooth roads of travel ahead to both of you.

The last time I was in that Surgeon's quarters was in 1967, when I was there on a 2nd grade field trip. I will have to check it out again next time I visit my home town.

Where does the name of the city come from? It was given by French-Canadian explorers and fur traders. In French, "Les Dalles" means "The slabs". When a river flows over hard flat rocks, it becomes shallow, and rapids are created. On this solid base, an hydroelectric dam was eventually built to harness the power of the Columbia River.

The first place they went I went there once to and I live in the Dalles

The items made from the hair in the museum and mourning pieces made from the hair of a recently deceased loved ones. Framed/shadowbox items were made, as were broaches and other jewelry. This was a Victorian era practice
