I find it so fascinating that opossums don't have a rip instinct. They have this massive jaw compared to their body size but they never bite down and rip chunks off of what they are eating.
Opossums are so cute and amazing!! And Luna is honestly a beautiful and fitting name for such an amazing opossum! (Also, your garden looks really beautiful!)
About 6 weeks ago I discovered I have a family of these living under my shed. I almost died because I've been petrified of them my entire life. I looked up ways to get rid of them, so I spread mothballs and garlic around the shed and at the openings of the 2 entrances. Then I blocked off one entrance and discovered the other was made bigger the next day. Fast forward two weeks and I removed all of the mothballs and garlic ( to the best of my ability) and put some grapes out as a peace offering after learning how much good they do and how gentle they are. They now have a permanent home under my shed. 🙂 Thanks to the internet, especially YT, I educated myself and got over most of my fear. (I still think they look too much like rats, but I try to focus on the part that looks like a little bear).
I love this so much! Yes we need more of the public to be educated about them and their important roll in the environment. I never really cared for them growing up either. I have completely changed my view and have learned so much caring for Luna. She is an absolute sweetheart 🥰 Thank you for sharing!
