Gordon. I have to agree with everyone else. The quality of this edition is fantastic. Yes the famous structures on the line are at Ingleton and Low Gill. But, there will always be hidden gems and you've found them. As regards the 2 company's at Ingleton at one point the passengers had to walk between the 2 separate stations. But, to be awkward the LNWR as the LCR had become wouldn't hold their trains for the MR. Hence the S&C being built. Only when that got passed through Parliament. The LNWR consented to cooperate with the MR who then went back to Parliament to have the S&C order cancelled. Parliament refused and the S&C was built

Gordon, I've just read the 8 comments to date relating to this contribution and I agree with them all 100%. I doubt any mainstream tv channel with a budget of £tens of thousands or more? could come up with anything more informative, entertaining and as articulately presented as this. One word - brilliant.

Gordon, your productions have reached a level which challenges that of major television companies. I like the combination of facts, anecdotes and appreciation of the beauty of the places you go to, not to mention the cinematography. Thank you once again for a fantastic episode.

For a while after closure the line remained fully maintained to act as a diversionary route for the S&C. One evening in the late 60s we were on the A65 when near Ingleton suddenly a Peak locomotive came over the embankment with a train of Mk1s with all the lights on and crossed the road bridge with its St Pancras to Glasgow service. It was a magnificent sight, and the last time I saw a train on the line.

Fascinating Nodrog the story of 60103 Flying Scotsman must of told a huge impacted Sedburgh if the branch survived today it would follow a huge consist of Railway Enthusits and character events like those you see at the popular Preserved Heritage Railways like the Severn Valley Railway and its amazing to see some Railway Artifacts like the hidden water slopes which must of been another way to trespass water:)

I love these trips out to the old railway lines Gordon, very professional indeed. These beautiful old bridges and viaducts are so fascinating to see. What a wonderful way to travel and so sad the line was never saved.

Your work gets better and better, Gordon. I agree with all the comments, you should be on TV. There were so many viaducts with iron sections cut up for scrap. Those are two remarkable survivors. Why didn't they reinstate the bridge deck on the metal section when they were refurbishing the viaduct? I would love to walk over those beautiful bridges.

Some great comments already on here. I echo those. I’m lost for words now, trying to find the right words of praise, and trying to work out just how someone gets a ‘break’ to transition from this to being a major tv series and tv presenter. It’s all there already. Somehow the door just needs opening. Well done mate.

watching this video makes me more kean to re-trace and find reminance of the lost crossgates - weatherby 10 mile branchline since i recently used a website to compare a station site at a very quietly peaceful and adilic village witch any other person would likely suspect a sertain spot was once a station with sadly no remains i find it sad that some lines never suvived but at the same time very intresting

This has to be one of your best vlogs yet including the Low gil one you did. I came across this structure while driving to Low Gil. These are magnificent structures. This is well documented, with a professional presentation to be told only by The Best on here. Your time and efforts are the best with scenery and fabulous locations with lots of history mentioned along the old line. Do you know if they do tours or open the gates at the top so you can take a closer look. ?
