Excellent video. Seth is a really good guest --- smart, articulate, speaks in a compelling way. I also really like your tour of the Upper West Side with Seth as the guest. My favorite art work would probably be Picasso's portrait of Gertrude Stein. I've always liked this painting but couldn't explain exactly why. Interesting to listen to Seth explain the irregularities in the painting and how Picasso was breaking with Western tradition. Of the sculptures, it would probably be "The Vine" by Harriet Whitney Frishmuth, which you just showed in passing. Love the way you laughed when Seth joked about being naked. Haha. I would have guessed that the hidden ugly faces in Bronzino's "Portrait of a Young Man" meant that the artist thought the young man was a nightmare to work with. He does look arrogant.

Sorry about the double post. The first one looked like it had been censored. It would only appear if I signed in, so I assumed other people couldn't see it. I deleted the part about the Bronzino painting and the new post seemed to work. Now, after 5 hours, the old post suddenly pops up.

I laughed when I saw the title...the MET in 2 hours. I've been there a half dozen times and have yet to see a quarter of what's on display. My favorites are the Frank Lloyd Wright room, Henry the Eighth's armor as a young man next to his at an older, more portly stage in his life. Finally, the musical instruments museum is a wonder.

A few years ago I said I wanted to visit every single room at the Met.... It took me 6 hours 😬 and I wasn't going slowly, some rooms I would walk in, stay for 5 seconds and move on. I had to split it into 2 days because of how tired I was. The first day I took 3.5 hours just for the first floor, and the next day I did 2.5 hours for the second floor.

Hey Norma, Yes this museum can be daunting. If you are really paying attention to every piece it can take days. The best part of the whole museum is that you can travel through time,. space, culture, and historical period and see what each culture valued most from their artwork.

Phenomenal video. I am a member of the Met and also spend a few afternoons per month in those beautiful galleries surrounded by those priceless works of art. As a recently retired teacher in NJ it my great desire to get visitors to NYC away from Times Square and into museums like the Met. I always took my students to the Met and also to MOMA. Also it is good to know, especially in the hot summer that we have experienced recently, that the Asian art section is the coolest temperature wise in the museum. Also less people visit that section, so it is never crowded. It is a nice pleasant, quiet place to mentally regroup during your visit. Your former professor is a font of knowledge! Thanks for another great video filled with very valuable advice. De Elaine, la profe de NJ

Thanks so much for this. Now I can't believe I lived on E. 85tjh for sixteen years and went there fewer than 10 times.

Great video. I've still never been to The Met as I was intimated by how much time and effort it would take. Such great advice to do planning ahead and pick a few things so as to not be overwhelmed.

Very cool video. I lived on E83rd for some time, so the end of my street was the grand entrance. This was often my sanctuary to clear my head, or just decompress. Glad to hear the rooftop is still open, I haven't been post pandemic. It's always fun to walk out back in nice weather and explore The Obelisk. Oh, and the Rossi family that runs the hot dog carts out front are absolutely awesome!
