one thing that wasn't covered here is that the townspeople in breath of the wild are generated using miis as a base, if you go into the game's code you can find that there's a system to generate townspeople based on miis. there was also some cut miiverse functionality so it's possible that tarrey town might have been a sort of social hub in the game where you could see characters based on your friends' miis
I laughed so hard when I was playing around with a mod that put my Mii (who has small dots for eyes) in the game. You could definitely tell the villager was my Mii, but it looked so dorpy 😂.
some of the features you mentioned were from the switch release of miitopia haha. the original didn't have such extreme customization possibilities, though it was still a step up from what the original mii maker offered. when it came to switch, the character creation menu was a huge leap from what was possible in the 3ds version. (its honestly still insane how much freedom they gave us) btw miitopia is an incredible game, its the peak of what nintendo has managed to do with mii's imo. and the soundtrack is unreasonably banger. would highly recommend it *especially* if you liked tomodachi life. surprised to see it called less popular!
I remember making miis for every single one of my friends even those that hadn’t even been to my house. I also had a weird obsession with throwing my miis around and taking one as far away as possible then going back to the rest my miis and whistling to make them stand in line so the other mii would have to run all the way back…. I don’t have time to unpack what that might say about me.
I did this exact thing all the time because I wanted to see the rare trip animation where they trip over and fall down. That and the sneezing were just so funny to me at the time
9:27 Actually, only the Switch release has wigs and makeup! The 3DS version only had a somewhat expanded eye/hair color option. The 3DS version didn't have a horse, either. Even if the game can get a bit grindy, I'd definitely recommend it. Lots of fun, and _technically_ has gay relationships!

Miitopia is a really funny and great game, actually! Unfortunately the original version doesn’t have the customization options that the switch remake does though. A real tragedy.
I remember in college I would keep streetpass open in an effort to collect all of the pieces for those pictures in the app. One day I was eating lunch in the common building with a food court and a guy came up to me because he wanted to know if I was the person he streetpassed. One of the most awkward interactions I have ever had.
I fucking LOVE Tomodachi Life and Miitopia. I played them to death on the 3DS, and I even have the Miitopia remake on my Switch Lite. It's super fun to make Miis and let them have silly interactions. I'm also a person who restarts like 800 times, my resetting habits are nuts. It's nice to see you starting up a channel. I watched your Flipnote video too! Same except i got extremely attached to my saves so i didn’t reset and instead bought multiple used copies of tomodachi life and miitopia including a miitopia cartridge that was corrupted and caused a boss to show up as an hp banana 💀

miitopia held me in such a chokehold from age 12 I love it so much. Its definitely an easy game but it's fun to make characters and watch them be silly, I actually created my first OCs through the mii maker on the 3ds. I still play the switch port to this day and am dead set on 100% completing it!!!!!!
Switch Sports is pretty fun and alright in my opinion and also yes, Miis are in the game. Just go to the Customize menu and select “Body” and then choose "Select Mii".
Yeah I play as my miis but I have also play as sportsmates they do look great especially with great hairstyles but regardless I still hate them for being the main focus in the latest Wii Sports game. The series where the miis made their debut.
I basically broke my index finger clicking on this video EDIT: I watched the video again yesterday since I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. It pushed me to try out the japanese only release "Tomodachi Collection" for the DS since I only have a DSi and I found out theres an English patch for it. The miis still speak japanese but all text is converted to English. Thought I'd share because some of you without a 3DS and with the means to run ROMs might want to try it too.
Also I can confirm that Nintendo Switch Sports is profoundly mid. It's like Wii Sports Resort but void of all charm and uniqueness, serving as yet another reminder that my childhood is over and done for. Good thing I still have a Wii.

Love your videos so this was a treat to see as someone who love love Loves the Miis x) I've just always loved how Strange they are for a simple little avatar system Btw since I'm a nerd and love correcting people on Mii Stuffs- the wig and makeup system of customization in Miitopia is exclusive to the switch remake! These mechanics are nowhere to be seen in the 3ds Miitopia- in the original 3ds release it's more akin to Tomodachi Life's customization and lets you choose more colors for the Mii's hair and such rather than relying on dyes etc. There's also fanmade ways to play Miitomo again in the modern day! It'sss a little bit of a process to get working, but I have it on my phone. It's basically just the basic functions like customization and photos and such, if there's any social aspects still working I wouldn't know since I don't have anyone else passionate enough to install it and play with me LOL...
The Tomodachi Life song feature was such a classic. It had a filter for profanity, but it was super easy to get around it. I wrote many profane songs and watching my poor miis sing them was always a great time.
miitopia was good in my opinion! you only control your character in a party of usually four, so it really feels like youre travelling with people you meet along the way instead of controlling them. the interactions are really cute, they can become best friends or get into arguments over petty things, its like watching a show. it was a really fun game i could put down, and walk away from and be okay if i came back 10 minutes later, so its really laid back. its not very hard either. the levels almost explore themselves, with you telling the party whether to go left or right for example. its a really hands-off game all things considered, but still had me hooked. I would be doing things on my computer and have my 3ds with miitopia open an arms length away so i could tell my mii what to do, focus on my computer, and look back a moment later and be ready to input again. the game was also really fun in bed, since while laying down its hard to play intensely and comfortably with quick movements or button mashing. the turn based gameplay really makes it an easy to pick up game.
I truly don’t even know where to start. Your content is something I needed in my life for so long. Your calming voice, fantastic scripts, and charming microphone cause me to check your channel often, just to see maybe.. somehow there are more videos to watch. Part of me wishes I could have discovered you years from now, when you have hundreds of videos so that I can enjoy your content to my hearts content, however I am thankful to be part of your community early on, even if it means I have to wait on the edge of my seat for the next video! i like miitopia a lot, im usually not that into rpgs but miitopia is an exception. the fact that you can make the different roles random characters is pretty great lol.
9:42 its not much of magic or anything much like that, It's implied throughout the game that miitopia is a stage play with actors and 4th wall jokes that focus on the "audience" like a real play would thus wigs, makeup, miis being called "actors" and characters addressing things to the audience. My head cannon is its the stage play of the first game on the 3ds where people got fantasy powers from the mii-nobyl nuclear power plant explosion, But yeah overall great game and highly recommend, very fun to play with friends lolol
Both videos got recommended by the algo, pacing is good and you explain everything with a nice soothing voice, the only drawback is that your voice is very low in comparison to the audio of clips and transitions. Other than that, keep up the good work!
I genuinely feel like they are making good content and I hope they continue with it, I feel like the only "criticism" I even have is that they are reading a script directly rather than looking into the camera. I hate even being like that because I don't want to feel like I'm being negative or a hater, but I feel like it's valid and does take the viewer out of the illusion that videos like this create, like I'm in the room having a friend tell me something they are interested in. I mean, starting off this strong means they will only continue to get better and suck people in through the algorithm, they're doing a great job already.

One of my favorite parts about booting up my Wii U was seeing people’s awesome artwork pop up. While I didn’t actively participate in MiiVerse, I did greatly miss this aspect once the service shuttered. Also holy crap, I totally forgot about MiiTomo! I actually used it a lot up until it shut down. On the plus side, for those who choose to hack their Wii U and 3DS systems, a lot of these services have been restored over community hosted servers. Also really miss Wii Street U, which was an app with super chill music that allowed me to kind of dissociate while exploring places I used to live or new places I’ve never been.

I think the sports mates are the enemy race to the miis. I feel like their god Nintendo created the sportsmates to be a “better” alternative to the miis. Their god locked them away in the tight spaces of switch profile icons as to not upset their player base. Miitopia is just a mere fantasy the miis dream of. A place where they’re loved and further customizable, they can do whatever they want. Some day I hope the miis will be free

I remember my friends were on miitomo. We used to have these pretend cyberpunk battles and dress our miis up. We used to draw futuristic ships and message each other constantly
One of the few people that managed to make a mii that looks like them. I’m an ugly person with a very distinct look but whenever I try to make a mii that looks like me it just turns out looking like the default
