Hello my friends, in this video I'm going to show you the oldest market in Kazakhstan - The Green Bazaar. This unique place, which is over 100 years old, is an important part of Kazakhstan's history.
The Green Baazar is located in Almaty (the biggest city of Kazakhstan) Since its inauguration in 1875, the market has been an important trading point in Almaty. The market currently sells spices, prepared foods, fruits and vegetables, meat, diary, textile, furniture, and a wide variety of different objects, including antiques and souvenirs.
The Green Bazaar is a peculiar "museum" of the Kazakh culture of trade. It is impossible to leave it without a purchase and, of course, without great impressions. Foodies can spend a whole afternoon here sampling Kazakhstan’s impressive array of produce made from animal’s meat and milk, as well as food from all over the world.
In the video, I explore the various sections in the market. Meat section, diary section, nuts and dried fruit section, Korean salad section, fruit and vegetable section, etc... and in the end I try a huge portion of the most popular Central Asian dish - laghman, which cost me only $5.
Currently, the bazaar is the main tourist attraction in Almaty. Therefore, when you are in Kazakhstan, I highly recommend visiting this old market, just to experience the Kazakh culture and taste the best local food and, of course, feel the real atmosphere of Central Asia.
