Next time you head out there let me know. I wouldn't mind accidentally getting stowed in your luggage for the to and from trips. Seriously though thank your for sharing. Quite amazing!

It would be helpful if you could share some water parameters (ph , TDS) on rivers you're filming

I don't have any equipment to measure parametres out here, it's very difficult (and expensive) to get hold of any easily portable gear. I do sometimes use a multi-probe from the uni but it's worth about $6000 so I can't just grab it whenever I want...I tend to measure temp, Ph, Conductivity with it. For this river, to give you an idea, in July 2018 (winter dry season here), we recorded water temperatures of 25.2 ºC to 25.4 ºC and a stable pH of 7.62. The temp of this river doesn't change much to be honest across the year.

@@biotopia5319 7.62 !! Is it like that for most clearwater rivers in Mato Grosso? I'm trying to collect data about the habitat of Hyphessobrycon melanostichos , I,ve found nothing on the internet except that he was found in clear water ! Thanks for your information and your great quality video :)

@@franktrempe5706 Hey, yeh it's high but there's a reason...this region of Mato Grosso do Sul (not Mato Grosso), is part of the Bodoquena Plateau, the rivers are karst streams, filtered through limestone bedrock and emerging as springs. For the first few km they are clear, before the forest has had a chance to fill them with sediment and detritus...and there isn't such a build up of leaf litter because current is strong, so fewer tannins. This all leads to fairly alkaline, clear water :) I will ask my professor if he knows anything about that species, he's the specialist on Hyphessobrycon!
