This video is like an archeologist looking through a culture's artifacts. I fucking loved this show as a kid, this video was so nostalgic. It's so weird seeing how small the map really is. I guess when you're a kid (and when the Yogscast didn't set their render distance to max), everything looked bigger and more epic. How did the creator of this map recreate everything? I vaguely remember that the Yogscast made a temporary server in which they allowed fans to tour portions of the Shadow of Israphel map: I assume that people somehow were able to download the map? I wonder what happened to all the items as well (like the things in chests). What about the modded sections? I remember that a bunch of mods were used in the creation of the series. I assume that the parts of the map that used modded blocks or items haven't been preserved.

Holy shit, I just realized, you said they never showed icaria in shadow of israphel which is correct, but they actually used it for a couple mod spotlights, like their better than wolves mod spotlight, and a potion mod spotlight

Its amazing how one of the earliest minecraft series has been preserved so well. I'm glad this was my introduction to minecraft in 2011.

Used to love this series as a kid, thanks for the nostalgia trip! Also Lewis said on a live stream a while back that the plan was to have Israphel use the power generated in the Nether to wake the giant robot sleeping under the sand, using it to wage war on the world. There was even an animated cinematic in the works! My guess is that the obsidian was its heart / power source, and the hero's would have to destroy it. Shame this series never got its last few episodes...

Finding out this was scripted was equivalent to finding out WWE was fake

What amazes me most with the Israphel series is behind the scenes they literally used world edit and too many items mod or some type of inventory editor to build every city. It would take episodes just to get to one place but when your flying around you can really see how close these huge builds were put together. There is a deleted behind the scenes footage where Lewis was talking with Israphel about where he stands and attacks from at the Castle where the war broke out with Israphel and his Goons. It is amazing. I used to think these were like npc's that joined their world but later realized everyone you see in the Israphel series is literally a member of the Yogscast. I forgot one thing. There was more behind the scenes footage that is now deleted of Lewis and Simon talking to all of the cast members and the build team in the world they played in and were saying just build whatever you want as long as it fits within the storyline. So I think this is why a lot of these places went unused was because the builders just went on a rampage building everything they could think of for the show. Who knows. Maybe they would of used it if the series was continued.

Downloaded the map and immediately flew over towards The Wall. Didn't realize that Icaria (The place where the final battle would've occurred) was basically right across from Verigan's Hold. I also found a hot air balloon nearby Icaria that had a sign titled "Zara's Home." I wonder if Zara is a character we would've gotten introduced to during the final episodes.

What a great series! Simon’s voice acting was the glue that made the “NPCs” so great. Thank you for revisiting all these cool places brother!

Oh sick, this download of the world has Mistral City in tact, I thought the earlier versions would've been lost forever. I have a much older version with decayed mistral, noticed some weird unrevealed structures around the yogcave, not sure what they meant

I just watched this series, and it is so imaginative and inspiring. What a special relic of Minecraftia. It is really interesting to see how it evolves throughout the development of the game, from the quaint, charming intrigue of terrorvale to the epic, magical kingdoms with flying machines.

And yet they still refuse to continue the series 😒😔🙄🤦🏻‍♂️😭

In the desert you can find the tomb of the templar kings that was never seen in any episodes. Pretty cool

bro showed everything and nothing at the same time. just a tip, we haven't all watched it 100000 times, maybe just actually show around some of the places instead of just flying past it and quickly confirming to yourself "oh yeah yeah yeah"

Someone could easily put command blocks in this and make it an adventure map.

Wrong resource pack!

They mostly only used Icaria for the old mod videos they did before Yoglabs. I think you see the most of it in the Better Than Wolves mod and the Dwarves mod

This series got me so into Minecraft It was unreal AND no joke for real. I can do the madam nubescu voice without hurting my throat as well as umbongo,. And it also got me to realizing I can do larger range of voices so I owe this series a lot, I hope one day we get a continuation or at the very least Boba can do something to help seal up the story proper. But Thank you for the trip down, memory lane I was practically going side-by-side as you explained each section XD

Great tour. Loved this as a kid. Seeing a lot more of the map was very interesting. I remember commenting on the video before asking Lewis to show more of the map now I finally get to see it!

I was obsessed with the Yogscast during this time.. I wanna say I was like 14 when I first discovered them. I'm currently about to turn 28 and these memories will go with me to the grave. I was such a naive kid in those times and I thought the whole time that they were playing some super elaborate Minecraft mod and that all of the characters they interacted with were AI 😂😂😂 The feeling of immense coziness and happiness I would get from watching all of their old Minecraft stuff was so pure to me. After school I would settle down with a plate of hot food and sit at my desktop, absolutely eager to be watching the classic Minecraft content.. I could go on for a while getting more descriptive but I know that we all had our very own special connection to these videos. It's truly a special time in my life that I will forever and ever cherish. After COVID, I kept coming back to these deeply nostalgic videos and I haven't stopped 😂.. Also this is a bit out of the blue but the music video "hey Yogscast" perfectly encapsulated the feeling and I can't help but shed a tear whenever I listen to it... Yeah I have a nostalgia problem 😅 Thank you for the video and for the chance to let me blabber about this!

honestly i want this map for the nostalgia, but the link doesn't work anymore, and i sill miss this series so much, and i wish they brought it back but with the newer versions of minecraft but probably the builders would have a field day if they make a new series

Been watching the series again, minecraft was truly different back then, these guys made their own fun and shared it with us when the game was fresh popular. Yet they treated the cut conclusion of the series as a joke, never to be talked about, nowadays they barely play minecraft, except TTT and GTA online of course. Simon is old now, Lewis is looking exhausted too, true shame what their channel has become, with all these new people i never seen before, im just sad.

I want to rewatch it now...

We need to make a data pack (behavior pack, however it works) NPC kit for this map so we can add more to it for 2024

I might know how the creator got this much map detail, back in the day the yogscast had a public minecraft server which also had a recreation of the shadow of israphel map made by the team, so they probably used that for reference, or managed to get that map if I had to guess

I remember when this was out; I really enjoyed the story, and of course all the laughs as expected from Yogscast.

22:49 Yyyeeeeeaaahhhhh, there are a lot more problematic throwaway lines and jokes in this series than I last remembered. I introduced my partner to SOI this year, we just got to Verigan’s Hold and repaired the wall. It’s been a rollercoaster of nostalgia and cringe hearing Lewis say things like: “I guess Lysander did have a lot of pink stuff in his house… No, it’s fine, Lysander is a STRAIGHT upstanding member of society.” Only to have Lysander be revealed as a traitor/cultist, as if his sexuality played ANY part in that. Also Jasper being depicted as cruel and antagonistic, only to reveal he is also queer, really makes me grind my teeth. I just close my eyes and repeat “it was made in 2010, it was made in 2010-“
