Sorry but you're wrong even if it's get legal it still bad to smoke it in public places or even in apartments, And it still a big deal to buy it since they will probably ask you, your cards and probably call a hospital to get you some help. Us Canadian don't laugh about that 😂 peoples will judge you so much by the way it a big deal I still don't understand why they decide to make it legal 😑😑
leslievelvy never said it didn’t have negative health effects. All I’m pointing out is the difference in media campaigning from the government. They went from tell people it is the worst thing in the world and to not even do it once to opening up their own stores and essentially telling people to come on down because now the government is making money off of it
leslievelvy and the reason why they made it legal is the same reason why cigarettes are legal. Legal doesn’t = healthy. It was made legal because 1. It’s a super stupid thing to go to jail for 2. It was disproportionately imprisoning minorities and perpetuating poverty 3. It is much harder to study the effects of an illegal drug and 4. The government could get in on the revenue drug dealers were making
Anyone remember that anti-drug ad where a girl in her bedroom becomes increasingly messed up while an insanely disturbing lullaby plays: "one two kicked out school, three four snort some more, five six need my fix, seven eight feels too late"? That ad freaked me out big time.
my thing is bugs and i *mostly* only joke about the dead people that aren't in the basement under the creaky board in the laundry room, under the shelf that the cat sleeps on.
Man, I'm American and I'm sad I never got to enjoy this madness😭😂 However, in elementary school, they always had this entire "give blood" week for awareness about donating blood (which we were 6 and you can't donate blood until you're 16 in the states????) but I remember they had this person dressed up in a giant blood drop costume and they forced him to dance with us and I was *terrified*
Ari Bembry i had this on about smoking and they forced me to blow in a straw even after i said i have asthma. i had an asthma attack to say the least 😃👍
The commercial of the girls chasing the boy down was actually a favourite in my family because they liked the song, and it was rare to randomly hear a song in Italian in a commercial, so it made my nonna who didn’t speak English well. The song is about, well, girls. Also, I’m absolutely sure a whole generation of Canadian children left peanut butter on toast out for the house hippos.
I was really hoping for that “stay fit cause you never know” one with the boy running because that is probably the most deeply nostalgic one out of them all lol. That and the North American house hippo lmao
"Mum we found a needle! Out by the overpass" I, now old enough to have those kids, "Uh... ok." "We're s'posed to tell you." "... good job? Don't touch it. What are you, from the country?" I really thought the ruhcoons one was about not eating wild berries and shrooms you can't id and was like "Such a Canadian problem"
"Dont you put it in your mouth! (Don't you put it in your mouth!) Don't you stuff it in your face! (Don't you stuff it in your face!)" *that shit's muh jam.*
3:10 I always thought the t.v. Was jealous of me and that it wanted to lure me into a false sense of security so that it could kill me and wear my skin and pretend to be me
The only thing I remember back when I was a child in Spain was an advertisement with a rap about using condoms, and believe, the whole country was rapping that thing in public and all the time. It was reaaaally popular and it delivered the message really well.
I love that when I was younger, I always thought everything on tv was true while I constantly saw the two PSAs shown in this video about no believing everything on TV.
I remember the one with the kid running away from the girls played so damn often for years. This video is so nostalgic lol Also I don’t remember the end of the house hippo either. Totally thought it was real as a kid.
Wait. How does that connect? Are you perhaps some.ignorant american who's never been outside his country? Or maybe even state. That's the only.reason thinking that way could be explained really...
"be careful children and only touch things that are good for you", now if I had only had this old woman read me this story before I met my last boyfriend...
I totally remember all of these from when I was younger. That "What's your thing" PSA was the absolute funniest. That T-Rex sound effect makes me laugh every time. I always wonder what happened to that T-Rex kid. The house hippo was also the greatest PSA ever! Definitely wanted the house hippo to be real.
Bro i've watched this video like 3 times and the zombie thing still scares me. Also, the commercial where the boy is being chased brought on so much nostalgia
Bitch, those fucking Truth ads horrified me. The one where her teeth falls out and that one where the weird monster comes out of the cigarette carton and attacks the kids in the science classroom. I hated truth ads.
One of the commercial series that stuck with me when I was younger was those workplace safety ones where they were saying how there aren't really accidents at work. Something awful would happen, someone would shout 'Help, there's been an accident!!' and the injured person would sit up, all covered in the FX gore makeup and go 'Actually, no it wasn't. You fucked up here, I fucked this up, and the boss fucked this other thing up. There's no accident here'. Like, I was an older kid- maybe a tween. But shit, that really hit me good. And also got me into FX makeup.
Ahh yes memories of my canadian childhood! Not as wild but anyone else remember bert and gert? "Hi im Gert, and this is my brother Bert and we are here to help you stay alart and stay safe" and the song went "stay alert...stay safe" and omg i remember that firsy needle commercial!!!!! I was born in 1987 and was prime audience for these commercials
I have to move to Canada in two years to complete my master's degree and I'm really looking forward to having unlimited access to all that quality, QUALITY content.
As a proud Canadian myself, I remember so many of these and had some wild flashbacks watching them now (and yes of course I thought the house hippo was real)
The house hippo OMG!!! When I was younger, I was sometimes leaving chips around the house to try to catch one, but we got ants instead. So disappointing.
“Boy, it’s not easy being one” meaning it’s not easy being a boy LOL. I guess it’s trying to show guys have it tough and for people to be more understanding? Can you imagine the difference if they did “Girl, it’s not easy being one” ... it’d be a lot worse than having your mom bring you a coat lmfao
The problem with the ad isn't that wearing coats is the worst thing that can happen to a boy. The problem is that they were supposed to make an ad that depicted the boy in a sympathic manner (or a compromising situation) but they chose not to in spite of the message.
I GOT HIGH AND RU-vid RECCOMENDED ME THIS AND I WAS BORN IN 2000 and WatCHED ALMOST A L L OF THESE AND ITS TAKEN ME DOWN A WEIRD DEVILS LETTUCE FUILED NOSTALGIA COASTER SOMEONE HELP
the way i froze seeing the tv psa- that psa scared me so much as a kid, whenever it came on i cried and hid behind my parents until it was over and i would have so many nightmares growing up that my tv would come alive just like that 😭😭 idk why little me was terrified of it so much but now watching it again……i can understand why and now i have my nightmare fuel again 🥲🥲
9:17 this PSA sends me into a wild rage when I see it now as it did in my youth. This ad is nothing less than loathed. I hoped when I clicked the video that you would bestow some form of mercy, to leave out *this.* It is not the content of the ad that vexes me, but the number of times I was subjected to it by YTV. Its only redeeming feature is the Italian song about... sewing? Was it worth seeing it so many times to watch Winx Club though? Absolutely. Do I wish Roberto Cardinali a very "I hope your music becomes known for more than this?" Yeah.
